Trades Helper - HVAC Facilities Management JOB SUMMARY: Reporting to the Executive Director of Facilities Engagement / Assistant Vice President of Facilities, the applicant should have proficient knowledge of, and the ability to perform HVAC and refrigeration equipment maintenance and repair, troubleshoot equipment issues, check refrigerant pressures, monitor controls, and respond to service requests. The applicant should also have a thorough understanding of general maintenance and repair as well as troubleshooting abilities for plumbing and electrical issues and repairs. The applicant must have good communication skills, be able to follow written and verbal instructions, have fundamental computer knowledge to be able to monitor and update all work ticket assignments in a timely manner. They must be organized and able to manage their time appropriately. They must possess exceptional customer service skills and be able to effectively communicate with the campus community. SALARY INFORMATION: In compliance with New York’s Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary for this union position is $69,965. For a list of benefits provided to employees, please click here. REPORTS TO: Executive Director of Facilities Engagement RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES: Perform HVAC and refrigeration equipment maintenance and repair. Troubleshoot equipment issues. Check refrigerant pressures. Monitor controls. Respond to service requests. REQUIREMENTS: (Knowledge, skills and abilities) Knowledge of industrial boilers and central heating plants. Knowledge of hermetic and semi-hermetic screw chillers. Ability to read wiring schematics and troubleshoot controls. Knowledge of various Building Management Systems including Trane, Siemens, and Andover. Knowledge of general maintenance and repair to include minor plumbing and electrical repairs. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: This position requires standing, kneeling, bending, and lifting for extended periods of time. Use of hand and power tools. Carrying materials, loading and unloading trucks. Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs. EDUCATIONAL/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS Three to five years of experience of maintenance and repair of air conditioning and heating equipment, refrigeration, fans, motors, and controls is required. Technical or Vocational School training is a plus. Valid CFC license is a plus. Valid NYS Driver’s license is required. EPA 608 certification is required HOURS: Wednesday - Sunday, 6:30am - 3pm. After 6 months the hours will be Wednesday - Sunday, 8am - 4:30pm.
