Position Summary

The Machine Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing production machinery and related equipment to support safe, reliable, and efficient manufacturing operations at CBC USA. This position performs preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and automated systems.

The Machine Maintenance Technician works closely with Production, Engineering, Quality, and EHS personnel to minimize equipment downtime, identify recurring issues, and improve equipment reliability. This is a safety-sensitive position within an ammunition manufacturing environment.

This is an hourly, non exempt role that starts at 27.00-30.00 per hour.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on production machinery, material-handling equipment, and supporting systems.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and automated equipment failures.
  • Diagnose equipment problems and determine appropriate repairs, adjustments, or component replacements.
  • Repair and replace motors, bearings, belts, chains, gearboxes, pumps, valves, cylinders, sensors, switches, and other machine components.
  • Read and interpret equipment manuals, mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, and pneumatic and hydraulic diagrams.
  • Assist with the installation, setup, commissioning, and modification of production machinery and equipment.
  • Perform machine alignments, adjustments, lubrication, inspections, and operational testing.
  • Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns and work with Production to restore operations safely and efficiently.
  • Complete assigned work orders and accurately document maintenance activities, equipment history, parts used, and follow-up needs in the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).
  • Identify recurring equipment failures and recommend corrective actions or reliability improvements.
  • Support root-cause investigations related to equipment failures, downtime, quality concerns, or safety incidents.
  • Maintain tools, replacement parts, maintenance supplies, and assigned work areas in a clean and organized condition.
  • Coordinate with equipment manufacturers, contractors, and technical service providers when necessary.
  • Follow all lockout/tagout, machine guarding, hot-work, confined-space, electrical-safety, and other applicable safety procedures.
  • Comply with CBC USA policies and all applicable environmental, health, safety, security, quality, and regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in required safety, technical, and equipment-specific training.
  • Support continuous-improvement activities focused on equipment reliability, safety, quality, productivity, and cost reduction.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
  • Technical certificate or associate degree in industrial maintenance, mechatronics, electrical technology, mechanical technology, or a related field.
  • Two or more years of industrial maintenance, machine repair, or closely related manufacturing experience.
  • Experience maintaining high-speed manufacturing, metal-forming, stamping, cold-heading, assembly, packaging, or automated production equipment.
  • Working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
  • Ability to safely use hand tools, power tools, diagnostic instruments, and maintenance equipment.
  • Ability to read technical manuals, equipment drawings, and basic electrical schematics.
  • Ability to troubleshoot equipment systematically and complete repairs with limited supervision.
  • Basic computer skills and the ability to document work in a CMMS or similar maintenance system.
  • Ability to work safely in a highly regulated manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to work assigned shifts, overtime, weekends, or respond to urgent maintenance needs as required.
  • (Preferred) Experience in an ammunition, defense, automotive, metalworking, or other highly regulated manufacturing environment.

  • Strong mechanical aptitude and practical troubleshooting skills.
  • Working knowledge of industrial electrical systems and safe electrical work practices.
  • Ability to recognize unsafe equipment conditions and stop work when necessary.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple maintenance requests in a production environment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with operators, supervisors, engineers, contractors, and other maintenance personnel.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
