As a member of our team, you will help grow a multi-billion-dollar business, explore new areas of innovation and influence digital experiences used by customers around the world.The Senior Content Strategist shapes how customers understand, compare and choose Microsoft products across <Microsoft.com>. This role defines the content strategy and product-knowledge structure behind our global digital commerce experiences. It establishes how product truth, customer guidance, comparisons and buying information should be organized and represented so that customers and AI-powered experiences can understand and use it accurately.This role creates the strategy, models, and standards that guide how content is produced, whether by marketers, copywriters, agencies or AI. The strategist ensures that content is meaningful and useful for customers while also structured, consistent, and trustworthy enough to support Search, personalization, conversational experiences, and emerging agent-assisted shopping scenarios.This role works closely with Site Merchandising, UX, SEO/AI SEO, product marketing, Engineering, Analytics and digital transformation teams. Each day, we build on our values of respect, integrity and accountability to create a culture of inclusion where everyone can thrive at work and beyond.ResponsibilitiesDefine the commerce content strategy: Develop and evolve the content strategy for Microsoft Store and priority <Microsoft.com> commerce experiences, aligned to customer needs, business goals, and global scale.Create reusable content models: Design scalable frameworks for common customer needs, including frequently asked questions, comparisons, buying guides, product-value frameworks, use-case guidance, and recommendation experiences.Define product-knowledge requirements and establish product truth: Define how product claims, terminology, attributes, relationships, use cases, and comparisons should be represented consistently across customer <experiences.Design> human and machine decision journeys: Translate customer questions, product complexity, and journey friction into clear buying guidance, decision-support experiences, and product-knowledge requirements.Lead content and commerce taxonomy strategy: Define the terminology, categories, attributes, and relationships used to organize commerce content. Partner with Search on query intent, synonyms, retrieval, filters, and relevance; with UX on information architecture; and with product-data teams on authoritative specifications and source systems.Partner with SEO and AI SEO: Convert search demand, customer questions, visibility gaps and citation opportunities into prioritized content strategies.Improve content quality and consistency: Establish standards and governance for terminology, naming, comparison logic, freshness, accuracy, and ownership across marketing and merchandising experiences.Simplify customer decision-making: Lead audits to identify content gaps, duplication, conflicting product information, and opportunities to make complex choices easier to understand.Use data to improve the experience: Apply customer signals, content performance, search insights, and experimentation to determine which content patterns improve discovery, comprehension, comparison, conversion, and long-term customer value.Advance AI-enabled experiences responsibly: Ensure product knowledge is clear, structured and reliable enough to support Search, conversational experiences, and emerging shopping agents without compromising accuracy or customer trust.Partner on scaled capabilities: Define the content models, standards and business requirements that product and engineering teams can operationalize through shared tools, workflows, and AI-enabled capabilities.Increase speed and efficiency: Identify opportunities to reduce duplicated content, repeated interpretation, unnecessary handoffs and external-vendor dependency through reusable standards and more effective use of AI.Influence across organizational boundaries: Build strong partnerships and influence product, platform and experience decisions across teams without relying on direct authority.Embody our Culture & Values. QualificationsRequired/minimum qualificationsMaster's Degree in Business, Marketing, Economics, Social Science, Computer Science, Information Technology, Communications, Liberal Arts, or related field AND 3+ years experience in retail, customer service, ecommerce, data science, research, marketing or business-related roles OR Bachelor's Degree in Business, Marketing, Economics, Social Science, Computer Science, Information Technology, Communications, Liberal Arts, or related field AND 4+ years experience in retail, customer service, ecommerce, data science, research, marketing or business-related roles OR equivalent experience. Additional or preferred qualifications7+ years of experience in content strategy, content design, information architecture, taxonomy, ecommerce, digital product management or related roles.Experience defining content strategy and governance for complex global digital experiences.Experience with product taxonomy, content modeling, structured content, information architecture or product-knowledge systems.Understanding of ecommerce discovery, evaluation, comparison and purchase journeys.Working knowledge of search engine optimization, AI-search optimization and AI-influenced customer discovery.Experience using customer research, performance data and experimentation to inform content or product decisions.Experience translating content and customer-experience requirements into specifications for technical or product teams.Practical experience using AI to research, prototype, analyze or improve content and digital workflows.Demonstrated ability to influence senior stakeholders and deliver results across large, matrixed organizations.Ability to move between strategy, detailed problem-solving and hands-on experimentation.A builder mindset focused on creating reusable systems and improving how work gets done.#EandEjobs eCommerce IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $106,400 - $203,600 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $137,600 - $222,600 per year.
