Senior Mechanical Engineer

Your future role on our team We’re growing our Mechanical/Piping Engineering team in our Calgary office! As our work expands in the energy, decarbonization and industrial sectors, we’re seeking a mechanical engineer with 8 to 12 years of experience in heavy industry. We’re looking for curious, self-motivated professionals who bring strong teamwork and an entrepreneurial mindset. As a mechanical engineer at BBA’s Calgary office, you’ll play a key role in all phases of engineering projects, from front-end studies to detailed design and field implementation. As a senior member of the mechanical engineering team, you’ll be responsible for ensuring the delivery of exceptional technical quality, identification and development of new business opportunities and client relationships and for providing mentorship and guidance to some of our more junior team members. Take a lead role in client communications and business development Develop scopes of work, budgets, methodologies and proposals Lead all or only mechanical scopes of work on conceptual design studies, pre-feasibility studies, feasibility studies and detailed engineering Serve as the project manager or project leader on engineering mandates within the mining and metals, hydroelectric power, renewable energy, and pulp and paper industries Play a key role on small to major brownfield and greenfield mining projects Perform mechanical and piping engineering calculations Define client requirements and prepare or review reports, estimates and specifications Participate in site inspections, condition assessments, commissioning and testing Mentor and coach junior and intermediate engineers, share knowledge and support the enhancement of team capabilities Foster a culture of having fun at work while delivering high-quality professional work
