Hands-on work in a fast-paced shipping and steel manufacturing environment Comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance Retirement plan options Paid time off Performance-based incentives Career growth and training opportunities within the company Opportunity to put your forklift operation and material handling experience to work every day Variety in your day, including shipping, receiving, material movement, deliveries, pickups, and production support Join a team where safe work practices, organization, and attention to detail matter Why You’ll Love It Here Safety is a priority, not an afterthought Your work directly supports shipping, production, and manufacturing operations You'll work with forklifts, pallet jacks, carts, dollies, and other material-handling equipment You'll have the opportunity to take ownership of keeping materials organized, moving efficiently, and handled safely Be part of a team that values good judgment, communication, and employees who speak up when something isn't safe Your New Role Work as a Material Handler / Shipping Helper in Salem, Oregon Safely operate forklifts, pallet jacks, carts, dollies, and other material-handling equipment Load and unload flatbed trucks and receive incoming materials from vendors Move and position steel, finished products, and other materials throughout the facility and shipping areas Assist with company deliveries and material pickups Inspect equipment and work areas and report safety hazards, concerns, and equipment deficiencies Maintain clean, organized work areas free from obstructions and hazards Follow established warehouse, shipping, forklift safety, and material transportation procedures Remain alert to pedestrians, coworkers, equipment, loads, and surrounding hazards while operating a forklift Consistently use required personal protective equipment (PPE) Support production with material movement, steel preparation, cleanup, and other shop activities as needed Work around power, hydraulic, pneumatic, and other equipment commonly used in a steel manufacturing and fabrication environment Hiring Expectations: Apply today, complete a quick phone screening, and get ready for an interview with our team to discuss your goals and experience.

Experience safely operating forklifts or similar material-handling equipment Strong commitment to forklift safety and workplace safety procedures Manufacturing, production, warehouse, shipping, or material handling experience Ability to safely load, unload, move, and position materials in an active manufacturing environment Ability to follow established procedures and directions from multiple team members Strong communication, organization, and prioritization skills Ability to work effectively in a busy steel manufacturing and fabrication environment Comfortable working indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions Comfortable working around the typical noise, dust, sparks, fumes, and equipment found in a metal fabrication environment Ability to frequently stand, walk, bend, stoop, and kneel while performing job duties Ability to handle objects weighing up to 50 pounds High school diploma or equivalent preferred At least one year of manufacturing or production experience preferred Commitment to consistently wearing required PPE and maintaining safe, organized work areas Western Utility Telecom, Inc. is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
