About The Role

DescriptionCameron Health is an independent, not-for-profit facility that proudly serves Angola and Steuben County. Hospital patient registration specialists are responsible for ensuring that all patients that come into a hospital are asked to fill out the correct forms to ensure that they provide the necessary information for their visits. They are tasked with providing patients with assistance in the registration process, answering any questions they may have, and reviewing the information provided to ensure it has been accurately and completely filled out. They are then responsible for inputting the information into the hospital's electronic registration system in a manner that makes it well-organized and easy for physicians, nurses, and other medical professionals to access. Hospital patient registration specialists also use classification software to aid in the process of health insurance classification and reimbursement for patients. Throughout their work, it is essential that hospital patient registration specialists maintain patient confidentiality.

DEPARTMENT: Patient Access

  • JOB TITLE: Lead - Patient Registrar
  • SHIFT: FTE 1.0 FTE, 80 hours bi-weekly, Monday - Friday 830a - 5p Days + Every other weekend rotation (required to take call)

Summary/Objective

  • Under the leadership of Patient Access management provides guidance on a day-to-day basis to all
  • registration staff in the performance of all job duties related to the patient registration process. Is a
  • resource to new and current registration staff.

Essential Functions

  • Fulfills responsibilities of assigned staff on an ongoing basis including receiving, collecting, and

recording information from patients to complete registration for hospital services.

  • Provides leadership and direction to hospital registration
  • Assists Supervisor in staffing ER and Outpatient registration outside of the on-call program.
  • Assists Supervisor with staff schedules. Brings issues to management for review. Performs audits

for new hire accounts.

  • Helps with promoting employee and patient satisfaction

Qualifications

  • Position requires flexibility to train new employees on all shifts

Experience

  • Two years in education, healthcare, or related field

Skills/Competencies

  • Excellent verbal communication skills
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Excellent phone skills

Education

  • High School Diploma or GED
