Comptroller

PRIMARY FUNCTION: Directs and plans accounting processes and financial reporting, manages all functions of the general ledger in compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Government Accounting Standards Board (GASB). Maintains adequate system of internal controls to provide reasonable assurance that assets are safeguarded, and financial information is reliable and compliant with applicable laws, regulations, policies, and procedures. Essential Job Functions: Leads and directs financial reporting, accounting, accounts payable, fixed assets, and cash and investment management functions. Reviews monthly financial statements, various analyses and financial reports. Manages year-end audit processes and preparation of Annual Financial Report statements. Collaborates with Purchasing, Financial Aid, IT, and the Office of Grants Management and external auditors. Assures adequate system of internal controls and compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies and procedures. Manages and develops accounting staff, monitors and evaluates performance of direct reports, recommending and implementing personnel actions such as hiring and dismissals. Reviews and responds to internal and external audit reports and recommendations, including revising existing policies and procedures. Establishes, evaluates and streamlines procedures, and monitors compliance with procedures. Develops and provides training to end user. Reviews ledger accounts and reconciliations. Additional Job Functions: Assists in the implementation and maintenance of computerized financial systems. Leads the Banner Finance functional group. Maintains chart of accounts. Promotes the College by participating in community, state or national organizations or conferences. Performs other duties as assigned
