About The Role

About the Role

The Senior Montessori Guide (SMG) is the closest programmatic support to fellow Guides on campus — the person who sees what's actually happening in classrooms day to day and can offer grounded, practical feedback. The SMG closes the gap between central program standards and classroom practice, without replacing a Guide's ownership of their own practice. One SMG is appointed per campus, where a qualified candidate exists — the standard is not lowered when no one is ready.

What You'll Own

  • Program Quality & Standards — quarterly Program Alignment (MPA) assessments, supporting MAP testing, escalating PE reconfiguration needs.
  • Peer Mentorship — structured written feedback prioritised by normalisation data, focused on concrete, practical coaching.
  • Lesson Planning — weekly TC audits (spot-checked Mon/Thu), monthly summaries to HoS and RPL.
  • Prepared Environment — monthly PE assessments across all classes, tracking open cases to resolution.
  • Professional Development — identifying Guide development needs and connecting them to the regional training offer.
  • Inclusion & Safeguarding Support — flagging promptly and collaborating, not leading.
  • Reporting & Collaboration — representing programs in campus meetings and biweekly SMG check-ins with RPL.

What This Role Is Not

The SMG function is programmatic — it does not extend into people management, personal support, or operational decisions. Performance management, parent complaints, personal/wellbeing concerns, sourcing materials, and structural staffing decisions all sit with the Head of School, RPL, or People team, not the SMG.

Time Commitment & Term

Minimum 3–5 hours per week, distributed unevenly as needed. The appointment is annual, aligned to the academic year and reviewed each APR cycle. Part-time (half-day) Guides must extend hours to cover the minimum commitment, at the same stipend.

Compensation

Classrooms Supported

Monthly Stipend (HKD)

  • 1–2 classrooms
  • HK$1,000
  • 3–4 classrooms
  • HK$2,000
  • 5 or more classrooms
  • HK$2,500 (capped — campuses with more than 6 classrooms should consider appointing a second SMG)
  • Eligibility — All Criteria Must Be Met
  • No exceptions or partial waivers. If no candidate on campus meets the bar, the role remains vacant — “nobody is ready” is an acceptable outcome.
  • Montessori Certification: AMI, AMS, or MACTE certified.
  • Montessori Teaching Experience: minimum 3 years post-certification classroom teaching.
  • Guidepost Tenure: minimum 2 years at Guidepost Global Education.
  • Culture Alignment: Core Values APR score not below 3.4 in the most recent review cycle.
  • Program Quality: Classroom MPA at or above the excellence benchmark in the most recent academic year; MAP result above the Guidepost benchmark where applicable.
  • Communication & Coaching: strong skills or demonstrable potential, referenced by your current Head of School.
  • Data Literacy: able to interpret and communicate using data; system navigation skills preferred but not required.
  • Working Hours: full-time Guides prioritised; part-time Guides must be able to extend hours to the minimum commitment.

Selection Process

  • Step 1. Application opens Mon 24 Aug — apply via the Greenhouse posting.
  • Step 2. Application closes Sun 30 Aug, 11:59pm HKT.
  • Step 3. Review & shortlist (Mon 31 Aug – Tue 1 Sep). Interviews Wed 2 – Thu 3 Sep.
  • Step 4. Decision made Fri 4 Sep. Appointment communication week of Mon 7 Sep.

Reappointment

SMG appointments are reviewed annually as part of the APR cycle, based on TC audit and PE assessment data, mentorship feedback quality, reporting timeliness, and Core Values APR score. This is a privilege, not a permanent appointment — a candidate who loses the role due to performance is not penalised in their Guide identity and remains a full-time classroom Guide with the same standing.
