Basel Credit Risk RWA Consultant - PMO Lead (Contract)
Capitex · Riyadh, Riyadh Province, Saudi Arabia
About The Role
Start Date: ASAP / within 2 weeks
About the Role
We're seeking a senior Basel credit risk RWA specialist to lead a PMO-driven remediation programme at a major bank in Riyadh. This role sits at the intersection of technical Basel expertise and hands-on programme management — you'll be driving fixes to the bank's credit risk RWA calculation process end-to-end while aligning multiple internal departments around a shared plan of action.
What You'll Do
- Lead the Project Management Office (PMO) for a Basel credit risk RWA remediation programme, establishing governance, RAID logs, and status reporting to senior stakeholders (ALCO, Risk Committee)
- Drive technical fixes across credit risk RWA workstreams, including exposure classification, credit risk mitigation (CRM), external credit rating (ECAI) mapping, CCF application, and Q17/SAMA regulatory reconciliation
- Coordinate and align stakeholders across multiple departments (Business, IT, Risk, Finance, Data teams) who own different parts of the RWA calculation chain — securing buy-in and closing regulatory/audit observations
- Guide and direct existing junior team members embedded at the client, who hold deep legacy system knowledge
- Prepare executive communication packs and manage escalations for senior governance forums
- Support broader Basel/RWA regulatory alignment work (counterparty credit risk, market risk RWA) as needed
What We're Looking For
- 10+ years' experience in Basel credit risk RWA calculation, regulatory reporting, or capital adequacy programmes within banking
- Hands-on technical knowledge of RWA mechanics: exposure classification, CRM, ECAI ratings, CCF application, asset classification (MSME/PSE/Default)
- Direct SAMA regulatory reporting experience strongly preferred (Q17 or equivalent)
- Proven PMO/programme management experience — comfortable running governance structures and driving cross-departmental alignment in complex stakeholder environments
- Strong stakeholder management skills; able to secure buy-in from multiple departments with competing priorities
- Based in or able to relocate to Riyadh full-time for the contract duration
- Prior experience at a Saudi or GCC bank, or with a consultancy delivering Basel/RWA programmes in the region, highly advantageous
Contract Details
- Full-time on-site presence in Riyadh required
- Accommodation and related logistics covered for the contract duration
- Fast-track interview process
