A Juvenile Justice Technician's work with delinquent adolescents in the following types of environments: Short -and long- term secure confinement Multi-use facilities Community-based programs Principal Duties Assists in planning programs for youth, counsels youth under supervision, and provides direct care, supervision, and control of youth in secure, multi-use and related facilities. Works under moderate supervision with delinquent adolescents in short and long term secure confinement, observation, and assessment settings, in multi-use facilities or community based programs. Oversees delinquent youth in group settings, individual encounters, visitations, and community involvement activities. Schedules activities and resolves potentially dangerous situations to ensure the safety of staff, clients, and or the public. Writes or drafts correspondence, reports, documents, and/or other written materials. Coordinates and refers services of community resources, placement providers, collateral agencies, the court, and/or other community partners with families, clients, or patients receiving services. Assists full time staff in identifying and applying appropriate security, safety, and/or control intervention techniques or devices to secure people, facilities, property, supplies or equipment.
