About The Role

The British Council is seeking a highly motivated Part-Time Teacher to deliver engaging and high-quality English language teaching, contributing to a rewarding and stimulating learning experience. The role supports the organisation’s global English strategy and its mission to build cultural relations through education.Key ResponsibilitiesTeachingPlan, prepare, and deliver high-quality English lessons tailored to diverse learners and learning stylesEnsure teaching meets British Council Global Teaching Standards and learner expectationsMonitor student progress and provide constructive feedback to support achievement and learner autonomyEngage in continuous professional development and uphold excellence in ELT practicesTeaching Centre ActivitiesContribute to teaching centre initiatives, course development, and materials evaluationParticipate actively in team meetings and collaborative activitiesSupport marketing and promotional activities and deliver excellent customer serviceComplete all teaching-related administrative duties to required standardsCustomer & Stakeholder EngagementBuild positive relationships with students and colleaguesPromote awareness of the British Council’s cultural relations missionEncourage intercultural learning experiences both inside and outside the classroomCompliance & StandardsAdhere to policies on Safeguarding, Data Protection, Equality, Diversity & Inclusion (EDI), Special Educational Needs, and Health & SafetyEnsure inclusive teaching practices that reflect EDI principlesEssential RequirementsQualificationsUndergraduate degreeCambridge CELTA or Trinity Cert TESOL (minimum global standard)Language ProficiencyEnglish proficiency at C1 minimumEvidence required: IELTS Band 8+ or Cambridge CAE PassExperienceDemonstrated teaching experience aligned with British Council Teaching Standards at CORE levelTEFL qualification (e.g. CELTA or equivalent)Experience across multiple age groups with minimum teaching hours:Primary (6–10): 400+ hoursLower Secondary (11–14): 800+ hoursUpper Secondary (15–17): 400+ hoursUniversity/Vocational (18–25): 400+ hoursAdults (18+): 800+ hoursCore CompetenciesStrong subject knowledgeAbility to engage and motivate learnersEffective lesson planning and deliverySkilled in assessment and feedbackAbility to create an inclusive learning environmentProfessionalism and adherence to organisational valuesDesirableDELTA or Trinity Diploma (EFL)Experience teaching Early Years (ages 2–5, 400+ hours)Additional RequirementsAbility to teach at the main British Council centre and partner schools (ISC Carthage and Menzah)Right to live and work in the country of employmentWillingness to undergo annual background checks as part of employmentImportant information:Location: TunisiaWeekly working hours: 25Number of openings: 2Contract: IndefiniteClosing date: 6 September 2026This opportunity is ideal for a committed teaching professional seeking to contribute to high-quality English language education while supporting a globally recognised organisation.
