Job Description – Procurement Head Electronic Control Panel Unit for Wind Turbine Generator Manufacturing Position Title Procurement Head Department Supply Chain / Procurement Reporting To Plant Head / Business Unit Head Location Manufacturing Plant Job Purpose To lead and manage the end-to-end procurement function for the Electronic Control Panel Unit manufacturing operation, ensuring timely availability of quality materials, cost optimization, supplier development, inventory control, and uninterrupted production support. The role is responsible for strategic sourcing, vendor management, procurement planning, contract negotiations, and supply chain risk mitigation for electrical, electronic, mechanical, and fabrication components used in Wind Turbine Generator control panels. Key Responsibilities Strategic Procurement & Sourcing Develop and implement procurement strategies aligned with business objectives. Identify, evaluate, and onboard reliable suppliers for electronic and electrical components. Develop alternate sources for critical components to reduce supply risks. Drive long-term cost reduction initiatives through strategic sourcing and supplier negotiations. Monitor market trends, commodity prices, and supply chain risks. Material Procurement Ensure timely procurement of all materials required for control panel manufacturing. Manage procurement of: PLCs HMIs SCADA Components Relays Contactors MCBs, MCCBs, ACBs Terminal Blocks Power Supplies Industrial Networking Equipment VFDs Sensors and Switches Cables and Cable Accessories Control Transformers Sheet Metal Enclosures Copper Busbars Hardware and Fasteners Labels and Identification Materials Ensure material availability as per production schedules. Vendor Management Develop and maintain a strong supplier base. Conduct supplier evaluation and periodic performance reviews. Monitor supplier KPIs related to: Cost Quality Delivery Responsiveness Technical Support Lead supplier audits and vendor development programs. Resolve supplier-related quality and delivery issues. Cost Control & Negotiation Lead price negotiations with key suppliers. Establish annual rate contracts and framework agreements. Analyze supplier quotations and cost structures. Achieve yearly procurement cost reduction targets. Benchmark pricing against industry standards. Production Planning Coordination Coordinate closely with: Planning Department Production Department Stores Department Quality Department Finance Department Ensure procurement activities align with production plans and customer delivery schedules. Participate in S&OP and material review meetings. Inventory Optimization Monitor inventory levels and maintain optimum stock. Prevent material shortages and excess inventory. Improve inventory turnover and reduce working capital. Control slow-moving and non-moving inventory. Develop procurement plans based on consumption trends and forecasts. Supply Chain Risk Management Identify procurement and supply chain risks. Develop contingency plans for critical materials. Ensure business continuity through alternate vendor development. Manage supplier capacity and lead-time risks. ERP / SAP Management Lead procurement activities through SAP HANA/ERP systems. Monitor: Purchase Requisitions Purchase Orders Vendor Scheduling Material Tracking GRN Status Open Order Monitoring Generate procurement MIS reports and dashboards. Quality & Compliance Ensure procurement complies with company policies and quality requirements. Support ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 systems. Ensure supplier compliance with quality standards. Monitor supplier corrective actions and quality improvements. Team Management Lead and mentor procurement executives and buyers. Establish departmental KPIs and performance targets. Conduct periodic performance reviews and capability development programs. Build a high-performance procurement team. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) Material Availability % On-Time Supplier Delivery % Procurement Cost Savings Inventory Turnover Ratio Purchase Price Variance (PPV) Supplier Quality Performance Vendor Development Initiatives Completed Reduction in Emergency Purchases Working Capital Optimization OTIF (On Time In Full) Material Availability Educational Qualification Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering / Electronics Engineering / Mechanical Engineering. MBA in Supply Chain Management / Operations Management preferred. Experience 10–15 years of procurement experience in: Control Panel Manufacturing Wind Turbine Generator Manufacturing Industrial Automation Electrical Equipment Manufacturing Power Electronics Industry Minimum 5 years in a leadership role handling procurement teams. Position-Specific Requirements Strong knowledge of electrical and electronic components used in wind turbine control panels. Experience handling major suppliers such as Schneider Electric, Siemens, ABB, Eaton, Phoenix Contact, Weidmüller, L&T, Omron, WAGO, Rockwell Automation, Delta, and similar vendors. Expertise in strategic sourcing and supplier development. Experience in SAP HANA or equivalent ERP. Strong understanding of BOM structures and material planning. Familiarity with import procurement and logistics management. Knowledge of inventory management and supply chain optimization. Ability to manage procurement for large-volume production environments.
