Lead - Production

Job Description Position: Lead Production - Control Panel Unit Department Production Reporting To Production Head / Unit Head Location Control Panel Manufacturing Unit(Coimbatore) Job Purpose To supervise and coordinate daily production activities in the Control Panel Manufacturing Unit, ensuring achievement of production targets, adherence to quality standards, efficient manpower utilization, material availability, safety compliance, and on-time completion of customer orders. Key Responsibilities Production Operations Supervise daily production activities for control panel assembly, wiring, busbar assembly, testing, and packing operations. Ensure production targets are achieved as per the approved production plan. Coordinate with planners to prioritize jobs based on customer delivery requirements. Monitor production progress and escalate bottlenecks affecting output. Ensure effective utilization of manpower, machines, tools, and workstations. Manpower Management Allocate manpower based on daily production requirements. Conduct shift briefing and allocate jobs to operators and technicians. Monitor productivity and work performance of team members. Train and guide new operators on assembly, wiring, and testing processes. Develop multi-skilled operators to improve production flexibility. Material Coordination Coordinate with Stores for timely availability of production materials. Verify availability of components, wiring accessories, busbars, panels, and hardware before release of production orders. Follow up on shortages and ensure minimum production interruptions. Maintain proper material accountability on the shop floor. Quality Assurance Ensure assembly and wiring activities comply with engineering drawings and work instructions. Coordinate with Quality team for stage inspections and final inspections. Ensure adherence to customer specifications and quality standards. Support root cause analysis and implementation of corrective actions for production-related quality issues. Minimize rework and rejection through process discipline. Production Monitoring & Reporting Track daily production achievement against plan. Maintain production records, work order status, and shift reports. Provide updates on pending activities, shortages, and completion schedules. Monitor cycle times and identify opportunities to improve productivity. Safety & 5S Compliance Ensure compliance with safety procedures and PPE usage. Maintain 5S standards across assembly, wiring, testing, and storage areas. Report unsafe conditions and support corrective actions. Promote workplace discipline and safe work practices. Continuous Improvement Participate in kaizen and productivity improvement initiatives. Recommend improvements in layout, tooling, assembly methods, and workflow. Support implementation of lean manufacturing practices. Identify and eliminate non-value-added activities within the production process. Cross Functional Coordination Coordinate with Planning, Stores, Procurement, Quality, Engineering, and Testing teams. Ensure smooth execution of production schedules and dispatch commitments. Support Engineering during implementation of design modifications and new product introductions. Position Specific Requirements Diploma / BE in Electrical, Electronics, Mechanical, or related discipline. 5-10 years of experience in Control Panel Manufacturing, Switchgear Manufacturing, MCC/PCC Panels, Power Control Centres, Automation Panels, or Electrical Assembly Operations. Experience in supervising panel assembly, wiring, and testing activities. Familiarity with electrical drawings, GA drawings, wiring schematics, and BOMs. Knowledge of production planning and work order execution. Experience in handling shop-floor manpower and productivity monitoring. Basic knowledge of ERP/SAP systems preferred.
