Pediatric Care Unit - Registered Nurses

Akicita Federal is hiring Registered Nurses to deliver specialized pediatric care for the Indian Health Service's Pediatric Care Unit in Chinle, AZ. You will be part of a seven-nurse team providing essential inpatient nursing services to pediatric patients in a Native American community setting. This is meaningful, hands-on clinical work where your expertise directly improves health outcomes for underserved populations.

• Provide direct bedside nursing care to pediatric inpatients, monitoring vital signs, administering medications, and responding to changes in patient condition.
• Assess and triage pediatric patients, identifying acute or emergent needs and escalating care appropriately.
• Coordinate with interdisciplinary care teams—including physicians, specialists, and support staff—to develop and execute individualized patient care plans.
• Perform pediatric-specific procedures and interventions in accordance with evidence-based clinical standards and facility protocols.
• Document patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately and in a timely manner in the electronic health record.
• Respond to pediatric emergencies using advanced life support techniques, including BLS and PALS protocols.
• Educate patients and families on care plans, discharge instructions, and health promotion strategies appropriate to pediatric populations.
