Responsible for data entering all patient and specimen information into the laboratory information system.
- Verifies requisitions for completeness of patient and client information
- Accurately enters all patient and specimen information into laboratory information system (patient name, location, etc.).
- Responsible for verifying patient names in Navinet or Emdeon for all cases that do not have insurance cards attached and also verifying illegible names in Navinet or Emdeon.
- Maintains confidentiality of sensitive information concerning patients, physicians, employees, clients, vendors, and the Company.
- Complies with all State, Federal, professional regulations as well as department rules, polices, and procedural manuals.
- Adherence to Safety Regulations.
- Adherence to HIPAA Regulations.
- Ability to learn and work in the Laboratory Information System
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Work Experience
Minimum typing speed 40 WPM or equivalent 6 months work experience.
Preferred Work Experience
- Experience with Medical terminology
- One year experience as a Data Entry Clerk in a medical facility.
Physical and Mental Requirements
- Requires full range of body motion including manual finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination.
- Sitting for extended periods of time.
- May require lifting and carrying items up to 20 pounds.
Knowledge
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
- Knowledge of word-processing software
- Knowledge of Navinet and Emdeon systems
Skills
- Ability to operate copier, printer, fax machine and scanner
- Skills in written and oral communication.
Education
- High School Diploma or Equivalent (Required)
