About The Role
The Director of Library is responsible for providing strategic leadership, planning, and management of all library services, resources, and operations at the University of Kalba. The role focuses on fostering innovation in information services, supporting teaching, learning, and research, ensuring effective use of digital and print resources, and creating an inclusive environment that advances academic excellence. The Director oversees staff, budgets, and policies while aligning library development with the university’s mission and long-term goal
- Strategic Leadership & Administration: Develop and implement the library’s strategic plan in alignment with the university’s mission. Formulate policies and procedures to enhance library operations and services. Manage the library budget, including resource acquisition, staffing, and technology upgrades. Ensure compliance with national and international accreditation standards. Represent the library in institutional committees and professional associations. 2. Resource Management & Collection Development: Oversee acquisition, organization, and preservation of physical and digital collections. Ensure access to high-quality scholarly databases, e-books, and journals. Develop a digitization strategy to enhance accessibility and resource-sharing. Collaborate with faculty to support curriculum needs through specialized resources. 3. Technological Innovation & Digital Transformation: Implement and manage an Integrated Library System (ILS). Drive the adoption of AI, automation, and emerging technologies in library services. Oversee the development of institutional repositories and open-access initiatives. Enhance library cybersecurity and data management policies. 4. User Services & Community Engagement: Design and deliver user-centric library services to students and faculty. Promote information literacy programs to improve research skills. Organize workshops, seminars, and academic events to foster learning. Establish partnerships with other academic institutions and professional bodies. 5. Team Management & Staff Development: Recruit, train, and evaluate library staff to maintain a high-performance team. Foster a culture of continuous learning and professional development. Promote inclusivity, diversity, and accessibility in library services. 6. Research Support & Scholarly Communication: Provide research support services, including bibliometric analysis and citation management. Collaborate with faculty and researchers in publishing and open-access initiatives.
