First Nations and Metis Patient Navigator

The First Nations and Métis Patient Navigator is a critical part of the cancer care team, serving as the primary patient/advocate and liaison. This role is responsible for the coordination and delivery of non-medical services to patients identifying as First Nations and/or Métis and requesting culturally appropriate advocacy and support through their cancer treatment journey. In collaboration with health system partners, clinicians and community partners, the Navigator supports the patient as part of the cancer care team. This role also serves as an education/liaison resource for the cancer care team to better understand community and cultural resources.
