About The Role

Set a new pulse for healthcare!We are looking for an Engineering Manager to join the Scheduling team in Berlin.Your mission will be to give practitioners their day back: reclaiming the admin time they spend creating and managing appointments, so care teams can focus on what matters. You will work in a feature team developing scheduling infrastructure and booking experiences, contributing directly to a platform that books billions of appointments a year for health professionals and patients across Europe.Working in the tech team at Doctolib means building innovative products and features to improve the daily lives of care teams and patients.What you'll doYour responsibilities include but are not limited to:Lead a team of 6 to 7 engineers of mixed seniority, owning delivery, quality and production health end to end — keeping engagement high and standards higherTogether with your product partner, define the mission and vision for your team and build a roadmap you can defend to stakeholdersTake part in architecture reviews and help shape the technical direction of the Scheduling stream, including the migration of core scheduling capabilities from the monolith into purpose-built servicesSet and uphold the security, reliability, performance and scalability standards required to remain the most trusted e-health SaaS in EuropePartner with Talent and People teams to recruit, develop and retain engineers through career conversations and feedback they can act onEmbed AI-assisted engineering into how your team works day to day, with a clear and honest view of where it helps and where it does notContinuously improve how the team operates — planning, on-call, bug backlog, incident follow-up — so the team spends its energy on what moves the needleWho you areBefore you read on: if you don't have the exact profile described below, but you feel this job description matches your skill set, we still encourage you to <apply.You>'ll be a great fit if you:Have at least 6 years of software engineering experience and 3 years of engineering management experience, including leading a team of 5+ engineers through delivery, hiring and growthAre credible with senior backend engineers — distributed systems, data modelling, latency and throughput are conversations you can hold and challenge; you stay close enough to the code to review a pull request, without needing to be the one writing itHave hands-on experience modernising a large legacy system, ideally extracting services from a monolith, and know how to keep a team delivering while the ground movesAre an effective communicator who can translate company goals into team objectives, and who says the uncomfortable thing early rather than lateThink critically and objectively, with a solution-oriented approach that brings people with youIt would be fantastic if you:Have worked in a regulated industry such as healthcare or fintech, where privacy and data protection shape design decisionsHave navigated hyper-growth environments and understand the trade-offs they force on architecture and team organisationHave formed a considered view on AI coding assistants — their real benefits and their real shortcomingsLife at Doctolib TechOur solutions are built on a single fully cloud-native platform that supports web and mobile app interfaces, multiple languages, and is adapted to country and healthcare specialty requirements.Our stack in this product area is Ruby on Rails and TypeScript/React in the monolith, Kotlin for new services, with Postgres, Redis and Kafka underneath.We leverage AI ethically across our products to empower patients and health professionals.
