Internally, you will play a key role in the development and execution of the medical strategy for our lung cancer portfolio, in close cross-functional collaboration. Externally, you will actively engage with healthcare professionals and other stakeholders to drive forward impactful medical <projects.You> will work at the intersection of science, strategy, cross-functional collaboration, and project management. This role requires the ability to translate complex science into meaningful medical initiatives that support patient care and that move forward our strategic objectives. Key ResponsibilitiesScientific Engagement & Insight GenerationDevelop and maintain strategic partnerships with a targeted group of Key External Experts (KEEs) and healthcare professionalsDeliver high-quality, balanced, and non-promotional scientific exchange aligned with therapeutic area strategyStay at the forefront of clinical and scientific advancements through literature review, congress attendance, and expert engagementExplore patient pathways, treatment practices, and unmet medical needs through scientific dialogueCapture actionable insights and feed them back into brand and medical strategyRespond to unsolicited medical information requests regarding AstraZeneca productsStrategic Collaboration & Cross-Functional ImpactAct as a core member of cross-functional brand teams (Medical, Marketing, Sales, Market Access)Provide robust scientific input into brand planning, campaigns, and strategic initiativesContribute to the development and optimisation of local operational brand strategiesDeliver medical training and upskilling to the commercial organisationReview and approve promotional materials to ensure compliance and scientific integritySupport clinical operations, including site selection activitiesMedical Projects & Evidence GenerationLead the design and execution of strategic medical affairs projects aligned to brand plansManage project timelines, budgets, and performance metrics (KPIs)Drive real-world evidence generation (e.g. observational studies, data collection initiatives)Organise and lead advisory boards, expert meetings, and scientific eventsCollaborate with KEEs to co-create impactful initiatives and evidence-building activitiesExternal Partnerships & Scientific LeadershipBuild and sustain long-term, trusted relationships with KEEs and key stakeholdersIdentify, develop, and manage advocacy networksLead externally sponsored research activities and support scientific collaborationsManage grants, sponsorships, and partnerships in line with compliance requirementsCompliance & GovernanceEnsure all activities are conducted in line with AstraZeneca policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirementsComplete all required training and uphold the AstraZeneca Code of ConductMaintain the highest standards of medical integrity and ethical behaviourWhat We’re Looking ForEssential Experience & QualificationsMedical Doctor, Pharmacist, or scientific degree (PhD preferred)Experience within a Medical Affairs role in the pharmaceutical industryProven experience analysing, interpreting, and communicating complex scientific dataStrong ability to build credibility and relationships with external expertsExcellent communication, presentation, and influencing skillsHigh level of integrity with strong ethical judgementAbility to quickly develop deep expertise in a therapeutic areaFluency in French, Dutch, and EnglishFlexibility for field-based work, travel, and occasional evening meetingsDesirable ExperienceKnowledge of pharmaceutical medical, regulatory, and marketing processesExperience engaging and moderating discussions with healthcare professionalsExposure to multiple therapeutic areasKey CompetenciesStrategic thinking and strong business acumenEffective stakeholder management and collaborationProject management and organisational skillsProactive, self-driven approach with attention to detailAbility to operate confidently in a cross-functional, matrix environmentWhy Join AstraZeneca?Be part of a science-led organisation at the forefront of innovationWork alongside leading experts and make a meaningful impact on patient careGain exposure to cross-functional strategy and high-profile projectsAccess career development opportunities across therapeutic areasApply NowIf you are passionate about advancing science, building meaningful collaborations, and making a difference in patients’ lives, we’d love to hear from <you.Date> Posted17-Aug-2026Closing Date23-Aug-2026AstraZeneca embraces diversity and equality of opportunity.
