IT System Engineer - Freelance 10 month

Your mission

You will take operational ownership of Matrix42's internal endpoint, server and security infrastructure for a defined 10-month engagement, keeping our platform stable while our team delivers a strategic modernization initiative.

Operate and stabilize our Windows and Linux server landscape on a VMware / Dell EMC VxRail hyperconverged platform

Deliver software distribution, patching and OS hardening across 1,000+ endpoints

Manage endpoint security across Windows and macOS and 2nd-level security incident handling

Handle incidents, service requests and joiner/mover/leaver processes in Matrix42 Enterprise Service Management

Administer Active Directory and Microsoft Entra ID access with a disciplined, audit-ready approach

Run monitoring and alerting across Matrix42 landscape - and improve what we alert on

Maintain backup and recovery, firewall and VPN operations, and the routine maintenance calendar

Document processes and hand over cleanly, so the work outlasts the engagement

Work with colleagues across our Frankfurt, Bucharest and Espoo locations, and with our product teams

Your profile

MUST HAVE

• 5+ years of hands-on IT systems administration (Azure, AWS, Windows Server, client management, Active Directory)
• Solid track record in software deployment and patch management on any enterprise platform
• Demonstrated ownership of security operations: endpoint agents, firewalls, incident triage
• Structured troubleshooting and clear written and verbal communication
• Exposure to agile delivery practices or DevOps working models
• Fluent German and English - both are working languages here

NICE TO HAVE

Hands-on experience with Matrix42 products (Empirum, ESM, EgoSecure, UEM).
