About The Role

DescriptionJOB SUMMARY: This position is a year-round position. Team Members are assigned to oversee the Adult Day Program Team Members at their site, and work with adults who have disabilities in a recreation setting, participating in both in-house and community-based experiences. Candidates will be working in a team environment, planning fun and engaging experiences for all. Duties include but are not limited to planning, leading and adapting activities and experiences to meet the needs of each individual, assisting with daily living skills, behavior management, completing documentation, and coaching team members.
QualificationsQUALIFICATIONS:

Must be at least 21 years of age.
High school diploma or college degree preferred.
Minimum of two years of experience planning and programming preferred.
Minimum of two years of experience working with adults with special needs preferred.
Must be able to perform the duties and responsibilities independently of others.
Must have transportation to and from program sites.
A valid state of Illinois Driver’s License with a good driving record and driving experience.
Ability to drive a 15-passenger vehicle.
Certification in First Aid/CPR preferred or the ability to maintain within 6 months (training will be made available).
Certification in CPI preferred or the ability to maintain within 6 months (training will be made available).
Must support the mission, vision, and values of the agency.

Adaptability: Ability to make accommodations for adults with disabilities, adjusting to their changing needs and unforeseen challenges.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

Ability to identify issues and implement timely solutions both independently and/or with guidance from Full Time Team Members
Ability to problem solve independently or in a timely manner
Strong ability to read and write clearly and accurately, ensuring that all documentation is organized, complete, and easy to follow.
Ability to organize materials and resources efficiently to support program activities.
Ability to manage, motivate, and lead Adult Day Program Team Members
, and lead activities
Ability to make decisions that are in the best interest of the program, participants, and staff
Skilled in using basic computer programs including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Internet Explorer
Knowledge of basic budgets and money management
Knowledge of how to respond to challenging situations, including de-escalation techniques, managing behavioral issues, and ensuring safety in high-risk environments.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Uphold and emulate the mission, vision, and values of NWCSRA
Attend meetings, orientations, and training sessions as scheduled
Be a mandated reporter for the “Abuse and Neglected Child Reporting Act”
Abide by the Policies and Procedures set forth in all NWCSRA manuals
Conduct routine documented safety inspections of designated areas of responsibility
Enforce rules, regulations, and help to foster independence for participants of the program
Assist with general set up and cleanup of the facility
Complete necessary paperwork as required including but not limited to payroll timesheets, accident/incident reports, behavior reports, program summaries, expense logs, and safety checklists
Communicate effectively and work professionally with participants, parents, NWCSRA staff, member park district staff and community contacts
Communicate effectively and professionally with parents/guardians of participant regarding schedule changes, behaviors, questions, or concerns
Maintain and inventory program supplies and equipment for the Adult Day Program
Mentor and model expectations for Adult Day Program Team Members and volunteers
Provide feedback to the Program Coordinator who oversees the Adult Day Program for the Adult Day Program Team Members, this can include but not limited to coaching plans, performance correction plans and evaluations
Ability to research, plan, develop lesson plans.
Plan and schedule activities within the monthly budget for the adult population in a variety of community settings
Manage the monthly program budget by logging expenses and utilizing safe money handling procedures
Produce lesson plans, calendars, and newsletters to the Program Coordinator who oversees the Adult Day Program on a weekly/monthly basis
Collaborate with Adult Day Program Team Members on activity planning and assigned tasks
Delegate and assign tasks based on Adult Day Program Team Member’s strengths
Take initiative with daily responsibilities and opportunities for growth
Supervise, assist, and adapt activities for assigned participants throughout the duration of the program
Implement CPI techniques as needed for behavior management
Assist participants with personal care (feeding, toileting, clothing), lifting, transferring, pushing and tie downs on the NWCSRA vehicle as approved by the Program Coordinator who oversees the Adult Day Program
Drive 15 passenger vehicle with wheelchair lift
Document and report concerns to the Program Coordinator who oversees the Adult Day Program
Act as a substitute staff when needed by the agency

Assist with emergency procedures.
Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Talking/Hearing: to communicate with staff and participants

Sitting: to position a participant

Reaching: to retrieve supplies or participant

Pulling: to open doors and drawers

Pushing: to close doors and drawers, push wheelchairs

Stooping: to retrieve supplies from lower levels

Crouching: to retrieve supplies from lower levels

Seeing: to observe participants and obtain information from written materials

Holding: to immobilize participant during behavior outbreaks

Lifting: to move equipment and supplies, to set up and take down activities, to transfer participants; up to 40 pounds, over 40 pounds requires a two person or mechanical assistance

COGNITIVE CONSIDERATIONS:

Must have the ability to read, write and organize materials. Must have the ability to develop and administer a simple budget. Must be able to relate to other people in a professional manner. Must exhibit good safety awareness and judgment.

ENVIRONMENTAL CONSIDERATIONS:

May be exposed to all types of weather conditions

Work may be performed in a variety of settings with varying levels of cleanliness, noise, etc..
