Position Summary

We are seeking a self-motivated Field EEG Technologist/Technician for Full-Time or Per Diem (PRN) opportunities in the Salt Lake City, Utah area. This position requires daily travel to patients' homes and clinical sites to deploy ambulatory and video EEG monitoring equipment, bringing Synthesys Brain Health's diagnostic services directly to the patients who need them.

Key Responsibilities

Perform EEG procedures in accordance with Synthesys Brain Health policies and procedures, ensuring electrode application adheres to the International 10–20 System

Travel daily to patients' homes and clinical sites to deploy and manage ambulatory and video EEG monitoring equipment

Maintain patient safety throughout clinical and non-clinical events, communicating with other patient care support staff as needed

Recognize clinically significant events and follow company policy regarding critical test results

Correlate patient history and clinical symptoms to determine appropriate electrode application and recording parameters for conditions including seizure classification, stroke, trauma, encephalopathy, and altered consciousness

Apply working knowledge of medication effects on EEG background and waveforms, medical terminology, and EEG correlates for adult and pediatric neurological, seizure, and psychiatric/psychological disorders

Follow technical criteria for recording neonatal and pediatric EEGs, and recognize normal, normal variant, and abnormal awake/asleep patterns across age ranges

Communicate effectively with patients and staff, explaining the purpose of the EEG procedure and answering questions

Identify and perform basic and intermediate technical troubleshooting and artifact identification/elimination

Maintain correct electrode connections and apply knowledge of alternate montages, protocols, and equipment settings

Follow concepts of digital equipment and electrical safety within the EEG unit

Perform patient assessment related to care, including electrode fixation product allergies, movement restrictions, and cognitive function

Complete required technical EEG reporting and patient logging per Synthesys Brain Health policy

Prepare and supply patient rooms/sites for EEG procedures

Contact supervisory staff as appropriate regarding problems within the EEG unit

Continue to learn and apply basic and intermediate EEG waveform recognition, relevant anatomy, physiology, infection control, current HIPAA practices, contraindications for activation procedures, and instrumentation preparation

Perform other related duties consistent with patient and technical care for this level

Compensation & Benefits

This role is available as Full-Time or Per Diem (PRN), with a pay range of $25.00 – $35.00 per hour, dependent on experience.

Qualifications

Experience: Minimum 1 year of hands-on experience in EEG setup and monitoring

Technical Skills: Substantial computer literacy and technical troubleshooting skills required. Collodion skills preferred, but not required.

Certifications: Active CPR certification required

Travel: Valid Driver's License with a clean driving record

Soft Skills: High strength in working independently, strong self-motivation, and a flexible, team-player attitude

Physical Requirements

Frequent walking, sitting, and standing

Reaching, including above and below shoulder height

Some kneeling/crawling

Pulling/pushing greater than 50 pounds; carrying up to 50 pounds

Exposure to bright and dim lighting, mechanical hazards, hazardous substances, and infectious diseases

Good or greater vision, hearing, manual dexterity, speech, and typing ability

Ability to concentrate for extended periods under stressful conditions while performing effectively
