LAB ASSIST PHLEBOTOMY - PT (13427)

DescriptionJob Summary

Registers patients/specimens appropriately in the Hospital Information System with required information.

Processes physicians' orders for test specimen requirements; collects/receives specimens into the Laboratory Information System, utilizing appropriate technique and working exceptions as needed.

Assists in front desk duties as well as outpatient workflow as needed.

In the absence of the pathology assistant, functions to process pathology specimens and reports as needed.

Collects/processes Chain of Custody urine drug screens and Breathalyzer tests.

QualificationsEducation

High School or GED Required. National Phlebotomy Certification Required.

Experience

Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.

Additional Skills/Abilities

Basic computer skills and excellent communication skills required. Must have ability to prioritize, multi-task and remain calm under stress.
