About The Role
Bay Animal Hospital is seeking an experienced Registered Veterinary Technician with a strong passion and advanced skill set in veterinary dentistry to join our team!
This is a unique opportunity for a technician who enjoys the variety of working as part of a busy general practice team while also serving as one of our primary dental technicians. In this hybrid role, you'll spend part of your time supporting the hospital floor with appointments, treatments, surgery, and patient care, while taking the lead on dental procedures as scheduled.
To recognize your advanced dental expertise, you'll receive your regular hourly rate while working general technician shifts, with a dental differential that increases your hourly rate up to $50/hour while performing COHATs.
In this role, you will
- Perform comprehensive dental procedures, including prophylaxis, full-mouth dental radiographs, charting, and assisting with advanced dental treatments and extractions.
- Monitor anesthesia and provide exceptional patient care throughout dental and surgical procedures.
- Ensure efficient dental workflow by anticipating the veterinarian's needs and maintaining a high standard of organization and patient care.
- Accurately document dental findings and contribute to treatment planning and case management.
- Educate clients on dental disease, treatment recommendations, home care, and discharge instructions.
- Work alongside the medical team on the hospital floor, assisting with appointments, treatments, surgery, laboratory work, radiology, and inpatient care as needed.
- Collaborate with the entire team to provide exceptional care across all areas of the hospital.

An experienced RVT who has a strong background in veterinary dentistry but also enjoys the fast pace and variety of general practice. We're looking for someone who is confident leading dental procedures, passionate about improving patient oral health, and excited to be a valued member of the technician team both in dentistry and on the hospital floor.
Schedule
This is a full-time position with a 4/10 schedule. Availability is needed Monday through Saturday, with occasional weekend coverage as needed.

- Compensation: $30 - $50 per hour, for each hour worked*

Minimum qualifications and skill set
- 3+ years of clinical veterinary technician experience
- Active and good-standing Registered Veterinary Technician in the state of California**
Proficiency in the following skills
Anesthesia induction and monitoring
COHATs
Advanced dentistry techniques
Bay Animal Hospital is a large, AAHA-accredited small-animal practice with 9 doctors and 3 credentialed technicians caring for dogs and cats. The 5,000-square-foot hospital was renovated in 2020 and features 7 exam rooms, digital X-ray, digital dental radiography, ultrasound, and ECG. Case exposure includes soft tissue surgery, dentistry, orthopedic procedures, foreign bodies, ophthalmology, and mass removals, with visiting orthopedic, ophthalmology, and cardiology specialists.
