Ursa Major was founded to revolutionize how America and its allies access and apply high-performance propulsion, from hypersonics to solid rocket motors, satellite maneuvering and launch. We design and deliver propulsion and defense systems that solve the most urgent and critical national security demands. The Staff Fluid System Manufacturing Engineer will join the Operations Team, leading development and manufacturing efforts on next-generation products and systems in aerospace and defense. The ideal candidate will be passionate about process improvement, scalability, and influencing product development. Hands-on experience in manufacturing environments, including technical expertise in fabrication, assembly, integration, and test of complex products is required.

This is an on-site position located out of our Berthoud, Colorado facility.

Responsibilities

Own and support manufacturing process development and champion industry best practices

Establish and communicate design for manufacturing principles in a collaboration with design engineering, quality, and technical staff

Accelerate manufacturing capabilities with consideration for quality, capacity, scalability, ergonomics, and automation

Take a hands-on role in the manufacturing process, including prototype builds, documenting work instructions, designing and implementing tooling, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives

Develop and implement test procedures to validate product requirements and performance

Own manufacturing BOMs, routings, process planning, and process change management

Author manufacturing process documentation appropriate for product maturity and design phase of the program

Support AI&T infrastructure and growth with a focus on manufacturing readiness

Preferred skills

Bachelor's or Graduate degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or Aerospace Engineering.

8+ years experience designing or manufacturing high reliability fluid and electro-mechanical systems

Familiarity with Manufacturing Execution System (MES) and ERP systems

Experience developing work instructions and process specifications

Experience with production and test equipment design and operation

Hands-on experience with hardware fabrication, assembly, integration and test

Hands-on experience in high-growth development and production manufacturing environments

Experience with inspection methods, common inspection tools, and GD&T per ASME Y14.5

Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Lean Transformation, Six Sigma, or Toyota Production Systems

Experience with material processes including welding, brazing, anodizing, plating, heat treating, forging, casting, machining, metal 3D printing

Experience with aerospace & defense hardware development lifecycle

Experience with non-destructive inspection (e.g. fluorescent penetrant inspection, radiography, ultrasonic, etc.)

Colorado law requires us to tell you the base compensation range of this role, which is $124,000 - $155,000, determined by your education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities. What we can’t quantify for you are the exciting challenges, supportive team, and amazing culture we enjoy.
