Our ideal candidate exhibits a can-do attitude and approaches his or her work with determination. You will be expected to demonstrate excellence in their respective fields, to possess the ability to learn quickly and to strive for perfection within a fast -paced environment.
What you’ll do
Become part of an iconic brand that is set to revolutionize the electric pick-up truck & rugged SUV marketplace by achieving the following:
Responsible for leading the triage of vehicle Electrical hardware/software defect reports (bugs) from multiple sources (including internal and exterior customer-facing) and for driving them to the appropriate teams for solution/closure
Help develop and execute the defect management process, including leading/lagging measurable metrics
Ensure that the information provided in defects is complete, up-to-date, and follows the defect management process
Collect the requirements on defect management tools and facilitate their development and extension by the internal and external service providers
Actively monitor incoming defects and rate the severity of the defects Identify and provide metrics/statistics to measure the arrivals and resolution of defects
Lead first-level triage with Engineers from ESPs/Suppliers and Scout Motors to help identify clear software issue module owner(s)
Act as the lead for those system challenges that cross domains without a clear single defect owner
Work with internal and external development team to ensure that defects have clear ownership and that the next steps are clearly defined
Participate in the Program quality gates meetings for Software issues
Lead Engineers from ESPs/Suppliers and Scout development teams to build a roadmap for software issues resolution
Develop bug trend reports on a per-component and per-release basis
Provide visibility into the latest ticket status and highlight items that appear to have stalled
Develop weekly software issues status reports and trend reports
Identify and implement process and tool improvements to improve software issue resolution times
Location & Travel Expectations
This role will be based out of the Scout Motors location in Novi, Michigan.
This role requires 4-5 days per week in the office, with regular in-person meetings and events.
Applicants should expect that the role will require the ability to convene with Scout colleagues in person and travel to participate in events on behalf of the company from time to time.

Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Engineering, Technology, IT Systems, or Engineering Technology from an accredited college or university; preferably Electrical, Controls, or Automotive Engineering
8+ years of professional experience in Software Development
Motivation to work at the cutting edge of electric and range extended vehicle development, with a hands‑on mindset and problem‑solving attitude
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including ownership, analytical thinking, teamwork, and the ability to thrive in collaborative, cross‑functional environments
Proven ability to work effectively in a global and cross‑functional development organization
Experienced with defect management and working with cross-functional teams in a firmware environment
Experience with software development lifecycle and methodologies, such as Agile
Experience with software issue and configuration management tools, such as Jira, GIT, IBM rational, etc.

Ability to explain the lifecycle processes and articulate knowledge of Software issue Management to a wide audience

Pay Transparency
This is a full-time, exempt position eligible to receive a base salary and to participate in an annual performance bonus program. Final salary offered will be determined based on factors including but not limited to the candidate's skills and experience. The annual performance bonus program is preset and not candidate dependent.
Initial base salary range = $140,000.00 - $170,000.00
