Job Summary
Loenbro is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Survey Technician to support mission-critical construction projects, including hyperscale data centers, advanced manufacturing facilities, and other complex infrastructure developments. This role is responsible for performing field surveying, layout verification, quality control measurements, and construction staking activities utilizing Trimble survey equipment and software platforms.
The Survey Technician will work closely with project managers, superintendents, engineers, BIM/VDC teams, and craft professionals to ensure accurate project layout, alignment, and documentation throughout all phases of construction.
Essential Job Responsibilities
- Perform construction staking and layout for foundations, structural steel, equipment pads, underground utilities, roadways, electrical infrastructure, and building components.
- Operate and maintain Trimble total stations, GNSS/GPS receivers, robotic instruments, and data collectors.
- Utilize Trimble Business Center (TBC), Trimble Access, Trimble Siteworks, and other survey software to process and manage field data.
- Interpret engineering drawings, BIM models, civil plans, utility plans, and specifications to establish project control points.
- Verify as-built conditions and perform quality assurance/quality control surveys throughout construction activities.
- Establish and maintain horizontal and vertical control networks on active construction sites.
- Collaborate with project management and field operations teams to identify and resolve layout discrepancies.
- Generate survey reports, field notes, stakeout documentation, and as-built deliverables.
- Assist with reality capture activities utilizing laser scanning, GPS technologies, and drone-based mapping programs when applicable.
- Ensure surveying activities align with project schedules while maintaining the highest levels of accuracy and safety.
- Support construction teams in fast-paced mission-critical environments where schedule adherence and precision directly impact project success.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Associate degree in Surveying, Civil Engineering Technology, Construction Management, Geomatics, or related field preferred.
- Minimum 2 years of construction surveying experience required.
- Experience supporting large-scale commercial, industrial, mission-critical, semiconductor, advanced manufacturing, or data center construction projects preferred.
- Working knowledge of survey principles, coordinate systems, control networks, and construction layout procedures.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and engineering documents.
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel to project sites as required.
Preferred Qualifications
3+ years of experience with Trimble surveying technologies.

Robotic Total Stations
- Experience integrating survey data with BIM/VDC workflows and Autodesk platforms.
- Familiarity with data center construction, electrical infrastructure, and mission-critical facilities.
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification preferred.
- FAA Part 107 Drone License a plus.
