About The Role

Personal Care
- Assist with bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and feeding.
- Support with mobility and transfers (using hoists, wheelchairs, walking aids).
- Maintain residents’ privacy, dignity, and comfort at all times.
- Monitor skin integrity and report changes (pressure areas, bruises, redness).
- Daily Living Support
- Help residents with meals and hydration, including feeding if required.
- Keep rooms tidy, assist with bed making, and ensure a clean, safe environment.
- Support residents in social activities and companionship to promote well-being.
- Observation and Reporting
- Record and report any changes in residents’ condition to the nurse.
- Monitor vital signs (temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure) when trained.
- Complete daily care plans, charts, and documentation accurately.
- Clinical Support (Under Nurse Supervision)
- Assist with continence care and catheter/stoma management.
- Help with medication rounds (only when trained and authorised).
- Collect samples (urine, stool) as directed.
- Support in infection control measures.
- Emotional and Social Support
- Offer empathy, reassurance, and emotional care.
- Encourage residents to maintain independence and self-esteem.
- Communicate effectively with residents, families, and the healthcare team.
- Professional and Ethical Practice
- Follow HIQA standards, infection prevention, and safeguarding policies.
- Respect confidentiality and residents’ rights.
- Participate in training, induction, and continuous professional development.
