Before we dive into the juicy bits… some context

Joko was born in Xavier's living room. Three friends, Xavier, Alexandre, and Nicolas, joined forces in 2018 with one obsession: to make shopping easy, efficient, and way less painful than bouncing from one website to another.

And they didn't come empty-handed. Xavier had been leading a travel portal at Jumia, the biggest e-commerce platform in Africa. Alexandre was building scalable tech at Criteo. Nicolas brought experience from demanding sectors like banking. These weren't their first rodeo.

After years in e-commerce, they realized online shopping was still a mess. So they set out to create a platform that helps people make smarter buying decisions, save money, and do it all powered by tech and data.

They're expanding fast in the US, and their next big quest is building an AI-powered shopping assistant that knows what you want before you even finish your sentence. So… what will I be doing day-to-day?

You'll join Joko's growth squad, a small and high-impact team that operates at the intersection of engineering and business. This isn't a role about building large features from scratch or owning a piece of infrastructure forever. It's about moving fast, running experiments, reading the data, and shipping changes that directly affect how many users activate, engage, and stay.

The team's current focus is on improving the conversion funnel of Joko's Safari extension on iOS, one of the core drivers of the product's value. Getting users to correctly install, authorize, and activate the extension is a genuinely hard problem, full of friction points that require both technical creativity and product intuition to solve. You'll report directly to Eric, the Engineering Manager, who also contributes as an individual on the squad.

• Run experiments that actually move the needle: You'll design, build, and ship A/B tests across the full user journey, from onboarding to retention, with a clear hypothesis, clean instrumentation, and the discipline to kill what doesn't work as fast as you launched it.
• Own the conversion funnel end to end: You'll dig into where users drop off, understand why, and propose the changes that fix it. Right now that means the Safari extension activation flow on iOS, but the scope will grow as the product does.
• Make every decision evidence-based: You'll instrument your code, define the right events, and work closely with the Data team to ensure that every experiment generates signal you can actually learn from and act on.
• Translate product constraints into engineering decisions: When a design has four screens but three would do the same job in two days of work, you'll say so. You'll be the person who pushes back constructively and proposes a better path.
• Prototype fast, then do it right: In the experiment phase, speed matters more than perfection. Once something is proven, you'll raise the bar, get a code review from the wider engineering team, and make sure what ships to production is solid.
• Work across the stack without hesitation: Whether the problem lives in the frontend, the backend, or somewhere in the iOS SDK, you'll go where it is and figure it out. The layer doesn't matter, the impact does.
• Stay close to the business: You'll participate in prioritization, challenge tickets that don't make sense, and bring engineering context into product decisions. This is not a role where you wait for a spec to land in your backlog.

No two days in the growth squad look alike. The team works in task forces, cross-functional squads formed around the company's quarterly priorities. No rigid sprints, no endless meetings, just focus on what really moves the needle. Tasks are prioritized by Product, and you'll have the autonomy to pick up the next experiment, bring logic, creativity, and data to the table, and drive it to completion.

You'll work closely with Eric, your Engineering Manager, who also contributes as an individual contributor on the squad. Beyond that, your closest collaborators will be the Product and Data teams . Product sets the direction and prioritizes the roadmap. Data helps you design experiments correctly, validate statistical significance, and extract the right conclusions. You're the one who builds the thing, instruments it, ships it, and reads what happens next.

The stack is TypeScript throughout, both on the backend and the frontend, with React and React Native on the client side. Infrastructure runs on AWS . The A/B testing and feature flag infrastructure is already in place, and the team has even built an internal tool powered by MCPs that lets you launch experiments by talking to Claude. So the foundation is solid. What's missing is someone to run plays on top of it.

And if you think this role is only about writing code, think again. Communication carries a lot of weight at Joko. You'll be talking to stakeholders from Product, Data, Business, and Engineering on a regular basis, sometimes explaining a technical constraint that changes a product decision, sometimes surfacing a metric that nobody had noticed. Connecting technical work to real business outcomes isn't a nice-to-have here. It's the job.

This position is 100% remote from Spain, although priority is being given to profiles located in Barcelona, Valencia or Madrid.

The important thing is that you live in a well-connected location, because there will occasionally be meetings or events in Paris or Barcelona, and they'd like you to be able to get there without too much hassle.

If you live in Barcelona, you'll be closer to the Urquinaona coworking space and can stop by whenever you want: to meet people, share ideas, or simply pick up some branded pens.

Joko doesn't believe in clocking in, or in forcing early wake-up calls just for show. Here, everyone manages their own schedule in the way that works best for them, because when you're treated like an adult, you act like one. There are no fixed hours or mandatory daily standups: just syncs every other day, focused time for deep work, and actual breathing room to think.

You can even work remotely from abroad for up to 3 months a year if you feel like switching up the view. Just make sure you've got a solid internet connection, a good mood, and the drive to make an impact. The rest you build your way.

You'll join Joko's growth squad, a small and high-impact team where you'll work directly with Eric (Engineering Manager), who also contributes as an individual contributor alongside you. That means you'll have a senior technical partner who understands the day-to-day challenges of the role, not just someone who manages from a distance.

Beyond the squad, you'll collaborate regularly with the Product and Data teams, and you'll have visibility into the broader engineering organization, a crew of senior engineers with diverse backgrounds, from ex-Google folks to PhDs in Machine Learning, who you can lean on for code reviews and technical input.

Even though the team is spread across Paris, Barcelona, and other corners of Europe, collaboration runs deep. You won't feel like you're working in isolation, even when you're the only engineer fully dedicated to growth.
