Kitsap Mental Health Services (KMHS) is seeking a Behavior Interventionist to support students enrolled in the Madrona Day Treatment
program
. In this role, you will provide behavioral and therapeutic support within structured, school
‑
based treatment settings. You will work closely with students
and program staff to support emotional regulation, safety, and skill development. If you want to work directly with youth in a therapeutic learning environment, we welcome your application.
Primary Responsibilities
- Support students in following school expectations by participating in behavioral interventions and identifying barriers to social and emotional success.
- Provide immediate, therapeutic crisis interventions when needed.
- Deliver one

- one behavioral and academic support, including assisting students transitioning to other schools within their home districts.
- Partner with families to build skills that support students outside of school, strengthen school relationships, and connect to community resources.
- Organize and facilitate social skills groups, therapeutic groups, and student

- led clubs as needed.
- Provide guidance and coaching to school faculty, including classroom observations,
staff presentations, and participation in team meetings.
- Document student progress and maintain accurate records in accordance with agency policies and procedures.
- Participate in meetings, case consultations, staff meetings, and admission or discharge planning activities.
- Support daily program operations as needed, including organizing supplies, maintaining program spaces, assisting with meals, or supporting recreational and enrichment activities.
Minimum Qualifications
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology
, social services, or behavioral health field
OR
Four or more year’s relevant experience
OR
an equivalent combination of education and experience
OR
- applicants internal to KMHS who have demonstrated competency in the specific required skillsets for the position.
- Experience working with children within the structure of an intensive, milieu-based program.
LICENSURE
- Agency Affiliated Counselor Registration.
- Per RCW 28A.400.303, employees of contractors with school districts that “have regularly scheduled unsupervised access to children” must go through FBI fingerprinting.
- Madrona requires a Food Handler’s Permit, preferred for Sequoia Program and Restorative School.
Preferred Qualifications
EXPERIENCE
- Intermediate (minimum 3 years of job-related experience)
- Experience working with the Special Education population is
- strongly
- preferred.
- Educational or classroom management experience preferred.
- The capacity to work well with children and families.
Performance Requirements
KNOWLEDGE
Awareness of or working knowledge of Cognitive/Behavioral therapy, Rational/Emotive therapy, behavioral modification, applied behavior analysis, and development theory is strongly preferred.
SKILLS
Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with other employees, clients, organizations, and the public.

Work Environment
: Frequent mobility and/or sitting is required for extended periods.
Mental/Physical Requirements
While
performing the job duties, the employee is required to walk, sit, use hands and fingers, reach with arms, talk, or listen. Peripheral vision is also required for this position.
