About The Role
Assistant Restaurant Manager reporting to the General Manager for our location in the Wellington Green Commons.
Job Summary
- Under the direction of the General Manager, the Restaurant Manager supports the management
- team to ensure the execution of standards and the outcome of company goals within a TooJay’s
- restaurant. This position requires the ability to motivate and train team members to meet the
- Guest’s expectations.
Qualifications
- High school diploma and 1-2 years of experience in a restaurant or related field
- Current Manager Serve Safe Certification or ability to obtain it by end of training
- Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license and proof of insurance and a driving history
- acceptable to the company
Physical Requirements
- Flexible and long hours required at times. Managers are scheduled based on a 55 hour work
- week
- Medium work, exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 30 pounds of force
- frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects
- Able to stand during entire shift
- Capable to maneuver throughout the dining and kitchen area throughout the shift
- Able to operate all front and back office computer systems and all office, cleaning, cooking
- and food preparation equipment
- Able to reach overhead, bend below the waist, crouch, lift, stand, sit, twist and communicate

Job Responsibilities
- Manages the activities of the restaurant team; This includes candidate interviews, hiring, ongoing training and communication of performance standards to ensure complete job
- knowledge and skill development of team members
- Engages with Guests to create a personable and seamless experience. Uses all service related
- feedback to continually improve service levels, drive overall Guest satisfaction, increase
- return visits and reduce Guest complaints
- Meets restaurant financial objectives by forecasting requirements, controlling food cost,
- scheduling expenditures, analyzing variances and initiating corrective actions
- Partners with HR to ensure any termination of a team member is conducted with respect and
- dignity after proper documentation which has given that team member the opportunity to
- improve their behavior
- Teaches, coaches and mentors others to maintain high standards. Establishes credibility
- through competence, continuity and integrity
- Has full knowledge of company regulations, policies, procedures, standards and goals.
- Performs duties at any given time to ensure proper execution. Consistently displays drive,
- energy and operates with a sense of urgency during each shift
- Fosters open communication with management and team members
- Effectively provides performance feedback through coaching and timely reviews
- Conducts counseling sessions with team members using TooJay’s Problem/Solution Notice,
- focusing on facts and respecting the dignity of the team member
- Maintains cleanliness of the restaurant by inspecting and directing work actions of team
- members
- Ensures safety, sanitation and security guidelines are followed at all times and immediately
- resolves any items identified through daily operational plan and flow charts; completes any
- accident reports immediately and accurately; is responsive to any requests from Corporate
- Risk Management
- Communicates and enforces the priority of back door security
- Maintains ambiance by controlling lighting, music, temperature, marketing displays and
- cleanliness of small wares; ensures floors are clean, dry and free of debris throughout the
- shift and dining room is clean and in good condition
- Guarantees commitment to uniform and grooming standards for themselves and the team
- Conducts motivating pre-shift meetings are conducted each shift and aligns with daily
- operational plan and restaurant goals
- Contributes at weekly management directional. Participates at all staff meetings and
- facilitates departmental meetings when necessary
- Monitors productivity of team throughout the shift
- Reports to team members on financial results, guest feedback and controllable they impact
- Recognizes and makes adjustments in staffing based on changing business levels using
- labor matrix parameters
- Maximizes profitability by ensuring accurate execution of recipes, Par levels and POS checks
- Supports company initiatives by educating and training team members to achieve success
- Follows all cash handling, house account, deposit and credit card policies. Reconciles comps,
- voids, discounts and cash shortages and takes corrective action
- Communicates to the General Manager on the status of their shifts; including financial
- results, issues affecting guests or team members and individual achievements
- Checks email daily and reacts appropriately to requests from the corporate office
- Performs any other duties as requested by the Restaurant Support Center Team and/or
- General Manager
