Role: Junior Software Engineer Location: Phoenix, AZ (Hybrid) Ideal Experience Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a closely related technical field Approximately 6 months of professional software engineering experience (internship, co-op, or full-time) Working proficiency in at least one modern programming language — Python, Java, TypeScript/JavaScript, C#, or similar Demonstrated understanding of software engineering fundamentals: data structures and algorithms, complexity reasoning, API design, relational databases and SQL Familiarity with the software development lifecycle — requirements, design, implementation, testing, deployment, and maintenance — and with Git-based version control Ability to explain technical work clearly to a non-technical business audience, in writing and verbally Strong analytical skills: able to decompose an ambiguous business process into concrete steps, inputs, outputs, and failure cases Authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship now or in the future Exposure to LLM application development — prompt engineering, RAG, embeddings and vector stores, agent frameworks (LangChain, Spring AI, or equivalent) Experience with Microsoft Power Platform (Power Automate, Copilot Studio, AI Builder, Dataverse) or another low-code automation platform Cloud experience with AWS or Azure; containerization with Docker; CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions or equivalent) Experience building or consuming REST APIs and integrating disparate systems Coursework, projects, or internship work involving workflow automation, document/data extraction, or conversational interfaces Cloud certification (e.g., AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner, Microsoft PL-900/AI-900) Why join Sonata Software?
