Our Body in White (BiW) department is where the vehicle body takes shape through highly automated welding, joining, robotics, and material handling technologies. BiW forms the foundation of every vehicle, ensuring the highest standards of quality, safety, and manufacturing excellence. Within BiW, the Maintenance Department plays a critical role in securing stable and efficient production. Our team is responsible for ensuring equipment reliability, maximizing technical availability, driving predictive and preventive maintenance strategies, and continuously improving manufacturing performance. We work closely with Production, Manufacturing Engineering, and global Volvo Cars teams to build and maintain a world-class operation in a highly automated environment. As Shop Maintenance Manager , you will lead the maintenance organization within the BiW shop, build strong teams, and drive a reliability-focused culture that supports both the successful launch and long-term performance of our new manufacturing facility in Košice. This role is ideal for a leader who thrives in a dynamic environment and is passionate about technology, people development, and operational excellence. What you'll do Project Phase Build and develop a maintenance organization within the Body in White shop, defining the most effective setup for the operation. Recruit, train, and develop the maintenance team using Value Driven Maintenance principles and tools. Establish the prerequisites for a safe, reliable, and maintainable production environment in line with Volvo Cars reliability and maintainability processes. Act as a key maintenance partner to the Manufacturing Engineering project team, providing expertise on maintenance engineering topics throughout the project phase. Running Phase Secure and continuously improve performance indicators such as technical availability, equipment reliability, maintenance costs, and safety performance. Lead, coach, and develop the Shop Maintenance Team through structured maintenance processes and continuous improvement activities. Support the future development of the shop, including line speed increases, new product introductions, and process changes. Promote and drive best practice sharing across Volvo Cars manufacturing plants. What you'll bring Several years of leadership experience in a technical or maintenance role within a highly automated Body in White manufacturing environment, ideally within an automotive OEM. University degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Manufacturing Engineering, Automation, Electrical Engineering, or a related field. Experience working in a transformation environment, startup operation, or greenfield project. Strong leadership skills with the ability to build, develop, and inspire high-performing teams. Analytical mindset with proven problem-solving and engineering reporting capabilities. Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively in a multicultural and cross-functional environment. Curiosity for new technologies, a proactive attitude, and a passion for continuous improvement. Good English communication skills, both written and spoken. Willingness to travel occasionally, both domestically and internationally. Compensations Base Monthly Salary (Gross) for this position starts from 3,900 EUR . * The salary amount represents the minimum guaranteed amount of the basic salary component applicable to the job. Final salary is negotiable and will be adjusted in accordance with seniority level and previous experience of candidate. Additional benefits: Summer & Winter Pay.
