The position is responsible for interpreting the spoken or written word from a source language to a target language, translating court evidence to a target language, testifying as an expert witness regarding the accuracy of translated documents or tapes, and collecting statistical data. The position works under direct supervision according to set procedures. Work is performed under the direct supervision of the Director of Administrative Services. Education, Experience, Licenses, Certifications, and Registrations Must possess a valid certification as a certified court interpreter issued by the Florida State Courts System’s Office of the State Courts Administrator (Contact Human Resources Department for more information). Two years of court/legal-related experience, and/or experience been a translator (Spanish preferred). Possess a bachelor’s degree in English, the source language, or a closely related field. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of English grammar, punctuation, and spelling. Ability to efficiently organize and prioritize work and meet deadlines. Ability to exercise discretion and confidentiality. Ability to interact professionally and maintain effective working relationships with superiors, coworkers, government officials, and the public.
