About the RoleWe're a fast-growing, Series A/B EdTech company building an AI-powered learning platform used by tens of millions of students across the globe. Our finance function is lean, high-impact, and at an exciting inflection point — and we're looking for a Finance Engineer to help shape it.This is a rare hybrid role: part finance operator, part builder. You'll work directly alongside senior leadership to run core financial processes and modernise them — automating workflows, building intelligent dashboards, and laying the groundwork for a scalable digital finance backbone. Visa sponsorship is not available for this role.What You'll DoAct as a strategic force multiplier for the Director of Finance & People — preparing decision briefs, running cross-functional initiatives, and serving as a trusted sparring partner to the management team.Own and manage key financial processes: monthly, quarterly, and annual close; coordination with external auditors; and financial reporting across multiple <jurisdictions.Drive> operational controlling, including budget planning, financial forecasting, and liquidity <management.Build> and deliver monthly financial reporting; conduct data-driven analysis to inform growth and investment decisions.Identify and implement finance workflow automation using AI tools, low-code platforms, and smart <integrations.Support> financial modelling for growth and innovation projects.Manage relationships with external advisors (tax, audit, legal) across jurisdictions.Serve as a key connector between the Finance & People function and teams such as Growth and <Engineering.Help> design a digital finance backbone — intelligent dashboards, predictive KPIs, and scalable ERP/treasury architecture.What We're Looking ForRequired:1–3 years of finance experience, ideally from a Big 4 advisory firm, a high-growth startup, or <both.Degree> in Business, Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field from a top-tier university.Strong analytical skills and advanced Excel proficiency.Solid grounding in FP&A, budgeting, forecasting, controlling, and liquidity management.Knowledge of German accounting standards (HGB) and familiarity with IFRS.Experience using AI tools to automate or improve finance workflows.Fluency in both German and English (written and spoken).Proactive, self-driven, and comfortable navigating ambiguity in a fast-paced startup environment.Strong stakeholder management and cross-functional collaboration skills.Nice to Have:Familiarity with BI tools (e.g. Looker, Metabase, Power BI) or low-code platforms.Prior experience in a similarly hybrid "operator + builder" finance role at a tech company.Compensation & BenefitsSalary: €50,000 – €60,000 per year, depending on experience.High ownership and direct exposure to senior leadership from day one.Opportunity to build and shape finance operations at a globally scaling EdTech company.Collaborative, mission-driven team environment.LocationThis is a fully on-site role based in Berlin, Germany.
