Catholic Coordinator of Religious Education (CCRE)

Location

Marine Corps Air Station Iwakuni (MCASI) Chapel

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize, and oversee Catholic religious education programs for all age groups
  • Coordinate weekly religious education (CCD) classes and Order of Christian Initiation of Adults (OCIA)
  • Support adult faith formation programs when available
  • Coordinate sacramental preparation and events (Baptism, First Communion, Confirmation, etc.)
  • Plan and execute special events including pilgrimages, retreats, and seasonal services (e.g., Stations of the Cross)
  • Recruit, train, and supervise volunteer catechists (teachers)
  • Maintain student registration, attendance, and program records
  • Coordinate schedules, facilities, supplies, and program logistics
  • Prepare and submit monthly, annual, and after-action reports
  • Promote events and communicate program information to the Catholic community
  • Ensure all activities comply with Catholic guidelines and chapel policies

Schedule

  • Weekly religious education and OCIA sessions (typically Sundays, ~1 hour, ~30 weeks per year)
  • Additional weekly or periodic adult faith formation sessions (as available)

Annual events

  • 2 pilgrimages (typically March and November)
  • 1 family retreat (spring)
  • Seasonal services (e.g., Stations of the Cross during Lent)

Qualifications

  • Minimum of one year of experience in religious education or program coordination
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Strong understanding of Catholic teachings and religious education practices
  • Ability to plan, organize, and manage multiple programs and events
  • Experience leading and coordinating volunteers
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English
