Lab Technician

Job Description Department: Laboratory Position: – Lab Technician Purpose of the Position: Performs tests and analyses on liquid and gaseous petroleum products specific to the Refinery. Complies with the documentation developed in accordance with applicable standards, legislation, and Group requirements, and contributes to maintaining the laboratory’s accreditation. Performs laboratory tests in accordance with work instructions, procedures, regulations, programs, and standards; Specific Duties and Responsibilities Is authorized for: Sample reception; sample preparation; equipment preparation and verification; performing tests; recording results in registers and in the LIMS program; Communicates the obtained results in a timely manner and enters test results into the IT system used; Is responsible for the accuracy and timeliness of the information provided within their field of activity, including the results of performed analyses; Participates in the adjustment and calibration of equipment and performs routine maintenance work on them; Participates in equipment testing during commissioning and in the implementation of test methods; Takes over equipment, activities, and ongoing tests from the previous shift; Provides information for determining the consumption of reagents, glassware, spare parts, consumables, and laboratory materials; Prepares containers for sample collection; Records environmental conditions in laboratory rooms; Maintains a polite attitude toward both colleagues and external persons they interact with; Immediately informs the Coordinator of any important situations that may impact the activity or exceed their personal competence to resolve; stops work if the activity becomes unsafe; Performs other activities related to fulfilling job duties as assigned by authorized personnel; If routine duties are completed, assists with any other activity assigned by their direct superior; Must know and be capable of performing any analysis within their sector of activity; Participates in training programs, acquires all knowledge gained through training, and applies it when required, according to the organization established by the sector coordinator and laboratory manager; Is responsible for the tasks they are authorized to perform; Replaces colleagues in the sector, according to their training and the work organization established by the sector coordinator and laboratory manager, during vacation periods and whenever necessary; Acts as a mentor whenever appointed for new employees or for employees whose competencies are being expanded.
