Animal DNA Analyst 1

Position Overview The entry-level Laboratory Analyst performs technical procedures related to DNA analysis within a high-throughput laboratory environment. Primary responsibilities include sample preparation, DNA extraction, DNA amplification, and electrophoresis to generate operational data. This position requires strict adherence to quality protocols, safety guidelines, and established standard operating procedures. Essential Functions Responsibilities DNA Analysis Data Generation: Perform routine high-throughput molecular biology procedures, including sample preparation, DNA extraction, DNA amplification setup (PCR, qPCR dPCR), and electrophoresis. Equipment Operation Maintenance: Operate and maintain specialized laboratory instrumentation, including thermal cyclers and capillary electrophoresis systems, utilizing accompanying data collection software. Quality Assurance Compliance: Ensure compliance with laboratory procedures and quality assurance protocols to maintain sample continuity and integrity. Assist with QA/QC tasks to meet ISO 17025 guidelines. Documentation Laboratory Duties: Document and maintain accurate laboratory records. Prepare standards and reagents, and complete daily, weekly, and monthly duties according to the analyst schedule. Health Safety: Follow laboratory Occupational Health and Safety practices to handle hazardous and biohazardous materials using the necessary precautions. Collaboration Communication: Coordinate and communicate clearly with colleagues within the Department to support operational efficiency and project management.
