About The Role

Job Purpose Under the supervision of the Operational Engineering Supervisor, the Storage and Slotting Analyst plays a crucial r ole in managing and overseeing a company’s storage of inventory. The Storage and Slotting Analyst is responsible for optimizing warehouse storage locations, layout design, and product placement to maximize space utilization, improve picking efficiency, and support operational productivity. This role requires experience working with part dimensions, product velocity, warehouse layouts, workflow optimization, zoning strategies, and commodity classifications. The analyst will follow established slotting criteria while identifying opportunities to improve material flow, storage utilization, and operational efficiency. This position will also provide daily support and direction to Regional teams and PDC’s to ensure proper storage homebase standards are followed. The Storage and Slotting Analyst should be aware of and utilize where appropriate other HQ and PDC resources to assist in the analysis and/or improvement of processes and/or issues. Here are some key aspects of their job purpose: Homebase Inventory Management Slotting (40%) · Thorough understanding/ability to learn Mobis strike zones and Homebase and storage standards. · Ability to conduct detail analysis of parts descriptions, velocity, cube, and storage constraints to determine optimal slotting strategies. · Analyze warehouse layouts and workflows to improve inventory accessibility, travel paths, and overall operational efficiency. · Recommend slotting and layout changes that support optimal material flow and reduce travel time. · Evaluate warehouse configurations and propose improvements based on inventory velocity, storage capacity, and operational requirements. · Partner with Operations and Engineering teams on warehouse redesign projects, location expansions, and process improvements. · Support implementation of new warehouse layouts, racking configurations, and storage strategies. · Support the development of warehouse maps, location profiles, and slotting documentation. · Ensure warehouse layout supports commodity-specific storage and Home base requirements. · Data Analysis: They analyze inventory data and generate reports on inventory levels, adjustments, and turnover for upper management review. · Collaborate and work in alignment with HQ and the other regional team. · Perform ancillary duties as requested by management · Responsible for communicating changes related to slotting and Homebase activities. · Support of slotting and Homebase activities in accordance leadership direction and standards Continuous Improvement Process Optimization (35%) · Lead and support continuous improvement (CI) efforts using Lean, Kaizen, or similar methodologies. · Ensure direction, new standards and processes are executed and followed in a timely manner. · Facilitate problem-solving sessions to eliminate waste, improve throughput, and strengthen process reliability. · Assist in planning effective space utilization to meet prescribed cost and efficiency standards. Continually evaluate space utilization and recommend methods and processes for improving layout. · Support the documentation of standard work, process maps, and best practices and work with regional teams to support network alignment. Data Analysis Reporting (25%) · Ensure slotting analysis by home base for every PDC are created. · Use Power BI, AI, Excel and reporting tools to create analytical slotting and layout models. · Design and optimize large-scale analytical models (1M+ records) to ensure efficient calculation of multiple slotting-related measures in Excel, Power BI using AI. · Build scalable and flexible data logic that adapts to changes in slotting strategies, including integration of inventory, forecast, and operational data. · Present slotting and storage recommendations clearly to supervisors, managers, and senior leaders. · Support data-driven decisions related to labor planning, slotting, and process improvement initiatives. Technical expectations · Operational Analysis – Ability to assess workflows, identify inefficiencies, and recommend improvements. · Inventory Slotting Expertise – Skilled at analyzing SKU data and optimizing warehouse space. · Experience with warehouse layout design, facility planning, or distribution center startup projects. · Knowledge of engineered labor standards, warehouse simulation, or network optimization tools. · Experience using AutoCAD, or similar warehouse optimization software will be a plus. · Continuous Improvement – Experience applying Lean/Kaizen tools to real-world operational challenges. Work Schedule/Travel Work schedule/hours Travel 8:00AM - 5:00PM or Determined by Management Overnight travel (up to 25%) by land and/or air.
