Operations Engineering Supervisor

Job Purpose Under the supervision of the Sr. National Lean/Ops. Manager, the Operations Engineering Supervisor for Facilities Standards/Storage and Material Flow, plays a crucial r ole in facility design, standards and space utilization as well as managing and overseeing the company storage of inventory. Provide daily support and direction to regional teams and PDC Inventory supervisors to ensure proper storage homebase standards are being followed. Continuous oversite to newly created facility standards and ensure best practices are being followed regarding all signage, layouts, slotting and storage of parts including the storage and handling of Lithium batteries. Responsible for creating new Standards and processes that align with company expectations. Monitor adherence to the established Homebases, slotting. Homebase Inventory Management, Slotting and space utilization (35%) · Assist in planning effective space utilization to meet prescribed cost and efficiency standards. Continually evaluate space utilization and recommend methods and processes for improving layouts. · Thorough understanding of Mobis strike zones and Homebase standards · Ability to conduct detail analysis of parts velocity, cube, and storage constraints to determin e optimal slotting and slotting strategies, proper devices and ideal racking layouts. · Project management and ability to manage several projects at the same time from beginning to end. · Provide direction and support creating new storage standards and layouts · Monitor inventory slotting activities in all PDC’s to ensure all plans and objectives related to standards are achieved reliably and on time. · Support and help provide direction when maintaining sites slotting profiles based on network priorities. · Design and implement slotting strategies to maximize efficiency and minimize travel time. · Analyze parts’ velocity, size, and demand patterns to optimize product placement. · Continuously improve warehouse layout for better storage density and workflow. · Utilize AMOS and information from other groups for data analytics to drive decisions. · Identify underutilized space and implement solutions to improve capacity. · Data Analysis as needed based on trends and leadership direction. · Collaborate and work in alignment with PDC’s and regional teams. · Responsible for all new standards related to facilities standardization, to slotting and Homebase activities. · Provide direction and support with the creation and implementation of all standards in accordance with leadership direction and based on established standards. · Provide direction and layout support and assist in stabilizing operations during space reconfigurations including work cells in all PDC’s. · Perform ancillary duties as requested by management Operational Support with Lithium Batteries for Mobis sites (30%) · Oversee safe storage and handling of lithium-ion and lithium-metal batteries. · Ensure compliance with regulations such as DOT, OSHA, EPA, and UN/DG standards. · Develop and enforce standard operating procedures (SOPs) for hazardous material storage. · Develop a way to monitor temperatures, ventilation, segregation, and fire prevention systems. · Coordinate proper labeling, documentation, and hazard communication. · Work with Safety and develop incident response planning and safety training related to battery risks. · Develop regular safety audits and inspections. · Collaborate with Supply, Quality, Transportation, and safety teams. · Maintain records for hazardous materials handling and storage. · Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations. Facility Standards, Continuous Improvement Process Optimization (20%) · Monitor and support reporting of project timelines, activities, and deliverables. · Contribute to standardization of PDC visual management. (signage, labeling, and operational indicators) · Develop process flow maps (current vs. future state) and identify efficiency and space opportunities. · Lead and support continuous improvement efforts using Lean, Kaizen, or similar methodologies. · Ensure direction, creation of new standards and processes are executed and followed in a timely manner. · Support documentation of workflows, business requirements, and system interactions as needed. · Facilitate problem-solving sessions to eliminate waste, improve throughput, and strengthen process reliability. · Assist in planning effective space utilization to meet prescribed cost and efficiency standards. Continually evaluate space utilization and recommend methods and processes for improving layout. · Support the documentation of standard work, process maps, and best practices and work with regionals to support network alignment. Data Analysis Reporting (15%) · Data Analysis as needed based on trends and leadership direction. · Monitor regional glidepaths created for PDC’s HB compliance progress and support with data as require · Use Excel and reporting tools to create analytical models, performance metrics, and dashboards. · Present operational insights and recommendations clearly to supervisors, managers, and senior leaders. · Support data-driven decisions related to labor planning, slotting, and process improvement initiatives. Technical expectations · Operational Analysis – Ability to assess workflows, identify inefficiencies, and recommend improvements. · Inventory Slotting Expertise – Skilled at analyzing part data and optimizing warehouse space. · Operational layouts – Dock areas, Bin area, Common areas, Racking areas, Floor pile areas ext. · Continuous Improvement – Experience applying Lean/Kaizen tools to real-world operational challenges.
