About The Role

- You operate at the intersection of engineering excellence and commercial ownership .
- This is not a back-office Sales Engineer role .
- You are the frontline technical authority , engaging directly with clients to win complex steel construction projects .
- You translate customer needs into robust, optimized and competitive structural solutions , while driving the full sales cycle from early discussions to contract signature.
- 🧮  Your responsibilities
- Client engagement & technical leadership
- Lead technical-commercial discussions with clients
- Challenge specifications to optimize feasibility, cost and performance
- Position the company as a trusted engineering partner
Solution engineering
- Develop structural concepts for complex steel projects (silos, industrial structures, racking)
- Validate technical feasibility and identify risks early
- Interface with engineering teams to ensure alignment
Bid management & ownership
- Lead the preparation of high-value, multidisciplinary offers
- Define the bidding strategy with key stakeholders
- Ensure full consistency between design, costing, planning and risk
Costing & optimization
- Build and challenge cost models (materials, fabrication, installation)
- Optimize solutions to meet margin targets
- Defend pricing internally and externally
Cross-functional coordination
- Align engineering, project execution, purchasing and sales
- Drive internal reviews and decision-making

- 📚 Profile & competencies
- Technical background
- Master’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
- Strong expertise in steel structures (industrial / warehouse / rack structures)
- Ability to understand and challenge structural calculations
Experience
- 8–10+ years in:
- Structural engineering / steel construction
- Technical sales or project engineering
- Proven track record on complex, multidisciplinary projects
Commercial & interpersonal skills
- Strong client-facing capabilities
- Ability to combine technical depth with commercial pragmatism
- Skilled in negotiation and influencing stakeholders
Mindset
- Ownership (technical + commercial results)
- Structured, solution-driven approach
- Comfortable in an international, fast-paced environment
Other
- Fluent English mandatory (German is a strong asset)
- Willingness to travel internationally frequently
- Willingness to work in our HQ in Spiere-Helkijn
