About The Role
The E.D. Access Representative works under the supervision of the Manager. The E.D. Access Representative greets patients and visitors, ascertains their needs, and presents a professional, courteous appearance. Registers patients timely and accurately online. Follows Patient Access standards to ensure adequate data collection and distribution.
Registers or activates patient accounts timely and accurately, updating if necessary to ensure the integrity of the database, registers medical center outpatient, lab specimens, and emergency room patients. Obtains appropriate signatures for the following: Hospital Consent to Treat, Assignment of Insurance Benefits, Notice of Privacy Practice if applicable, Insurance pre-certification arrangements and financial responsibility, this includes contacting family, legal guardian, DPOA, or appropriate person when necessary for consent to treat. Must have knowledge of Medicare and commercial insurance requirements to determine primary and secondary payor information. Distributes Medicare Important Message as required by PRO Review. Provide Medicaid recipients and financial assistance applicants with appropriate financial assistance information. Routes patients to ensure proper tests are completed in the correct order to guard against treatment delay. Escorts patients and/or family to ancillary departments. Verifies Insurance Eligibility on every patient encounter. Collects deductibles and co-pay amounts from patients upon admission. Assures confidentiality of information regarding patients, hospital personnel and medical staff. Will have bi-weekly standby shift. Attends departmental meetings/in-services. Complies with all departmental standards regarding attendance/performance and acts as a role model for fellow staff members. Other duties as assigned Education H.S. Diploma - High School Diploma or GED equivalent - Required Medical terminology course - Preferred Work Experience Typing of 35 wpm - Required 1 Year - Customer service, medical office background - Preferred Licenses and Certifications Basic Life Support (BLS) - Required within 90 Days Travel Requirements Must be ablet to travel between various system facilities and off-site locations as needed. - Required
