About The Role
Project: North Mine Rotation: 7 days on 7 days off Shift Length: 10.5 Salary Range: $73,000 - $123,000/annum, range is variable and dependent on overtime worked and production bonus paid Benefits: Redpath offers comprehensive benefits including but not limited to health, dental and vision care, life insurance, pension and employee assistance program Pre-employment requirement: Drug Test Job Summary: Scoop Operator The primary role of the Scoop Operator is to operate a 2 yrd or 8 yrd mining equipment to load, haul and dump ore or waste from development and/or production area in a safe manner.
General: Identify unsafe conditions in underground headings - high level of alertness required. Scale back and walls as required to make the workplace safe. Drill holes using hand-held pneumatic drills or drill-boom mounted on bolter. Install or fix existing mines services such as vent tubing and pipes using various lifting equipment such as scissor trucks, chain blocks and hand tools. Operate large mobile equipment such as 8 yard (Scoop tram) and scissor lift (man lift), Receive instructions or directives from Shift Supervisors and Captain to coordinate day to day ground control requirements; Must be able to comprehend written and verbal instructions as required to perform his duties in a safe and efficient manner The duties and responsibilities listed above are representative of the nature and level of work assigned and are not necessarily all inclusive. Health and Safety: Having the authority and responsibility to maintain a safe and efficient working environment Following Redpath Canada Limited health and safety standards and systems, including the Five Point Safety System and the Cardinal Rules, and reporting any unsafe acts or conditions Responsible to ensure proper use and maintenance of personal protective equipment required in the performance of the work. Must have knowledge of the WHMIS legislation and know how to effectively use an MSDS sheet. Comply with the Act and Mining Regulations that apply to the work area.
Education and Work Experience: High School Diploma or equivalent (preferred) 2 years or more experience as a miner Ontario Basic Underground Hard Rock Miner – Common Core Ontario Basic Underground Hard Rock Mining Specialty Module U0010, U0012, U0024, U0028, U0081, U0082 Knowledge Required: Demonstrated ability to read mine plans and specifications for underground mining. Ability to multi task and work effectively Ability to work efficiently as part of a team as well as independently Respectful of cultural differences
