About The Role
The Supply Chain Planner – FG Planning and RM Procurement has responsibilities for planning the end-to-end supply chain of one or more manufacturing sites. The role involves reviewing MRP output and creating the production orders for the site(s) as well as creating purchase orders for the site(s). This position is responsible for inventory management, assisting in labor projections, schedule optimization, on-time performance, master data maintenance and other responsibilities as assigned. This position acts as a liaison to both Customer Service (FG Planning) and Suppliers (RM Procurement). This position is an integral part of the business unit and manufacturing site(s).
Responsibilities Balance supply with demand on a short-term and long-term basis. Monitor inventory levels and days on hand of materials at assigned locations. Manage material master MRP settings to keep SAP in line with reality and the intended supply chain strategy. Evaluate/incorporate/generate ideas for new SAP technology to improve overall operations. Provide backup to support other individuals with similar roles and responsibilities. Regularly monitor and address Non-Working, Slow-Moving (NWSM) inventory. Resolution may involve redeployment to another location, re-labeling to a co-spec, obtaining technical approval to consume, vendor return, modifying procurement strategy, sales collaboration, etc. Works with site management to organize schedule changes due to backlogs, design changes, and material/labor shortages. Analyze and maintain data to create information on safety stock levels, MOQ’s, logistics modes, forecasting requirements and other potential cost-saving opportunities. Communicate process and service issues to Business Management, Manufacturing, Sales, Customer Service, Production Planning and Technical Service. Oversee finished goods and stock inventories of assigned locations. Review MRP output to create production orders, identify inventory and delivery exceptions. Check production activity to provide updates to customer service based on new production/customer information. Maintain MRP forecasted demand for stocked products at specific sites using forecasting models in SAP, and by establishing effective communications with Sellers and CSRs. Address Customer Service questions and concerns regarding material availability. Execute purchasing activities which include, but may not be limited to, the creation of purchase orders, communicating with vendors, confirming purchase orders, providing forecasts to vendors, and managing overall vendor relationships at the transactional level. Interact with site level supply chain planners and schedulers to build consensus on supply strategy and resolve issues. Build truckload deliveries to stocking points where possible based on material demand. Other duties as assigned. Physical Demands Must be able to remain in a stationary position for extended periods of time (up to 60% of the workday). Must be able to travel to/from required meetings. Must be able to input data into a computer. Typically work is in an office environment where the noise level is low to moderate.
Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in business or engineering required. 3+ years of experience in transactional supply chain (planning, procurement, etc). APICS certification preferred.
