About The Role
- Basic Function:
The Junior Quantity Surveyor supports the commercial team in managing cost, contracts, and procurement across fit-out projects. This role involves assisting in the preparation of BOQs, tracking variations, supporting subcontractor evaluations, and maintaining cost documentation. The Junior QS plays a key role in ensuring accurate record-keeping and providing reliable support to the QS and Commercial Manager during the full project lifecycle.
- Major Duties and Responsibilities:
- Cost Support & BOQ Preparation
- ● Assist in preparing quantities and cost estimates from drawings and specifications.
- ● Help with drafting and updating BOQs, material take-offs, and pricing schedules.
- ● Support in verifying quantities for variations and interim valuations.
- Subcontractor Coordination
- ● Support in issuing RFQs to suppliers and subcontractors.
- ● Assist in evaluating quotations and preparing comparison sheets.
- ● Help in drafting subcontract agreements and tracking key terms.
- Payment & Valuation Support
- ● Assist in preparing interim payment applications to clients and verifying subcontractor payment claims.
- ● Maintain logs of certified payments and progress measurement for tracking purposes.
- ● Support the QS in validating site progress for payment purposes.
- Variation & Change Control
- ● Record and monitor variations and changes in scope.
- ● Support the preparation of variation submissions and maintain variation registers.
- ● Assist in obtaining supporting documentation (drawings, site instructions, etc.) for change orders.
- Documentation & Reporting
● Maintain accurate and up-to-date cost and procurement records.
● Assist in preparing commercial reports, cost trackers, and cash flow inputs.
● Ensure proper filing of all commercial documentation in coordination with document control.
● The employee may be required to undertake any other duties or responsibilities as assigned by the management from time to time, in line with the role and organizational needs.
- Qualifications:
- ● Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, or related discipline.
- ● 1-4 years of experience in estimation within the interior fit-out industry.
- ● Internships or training within the UAE construction industry is an advantage
- Specific Job Abilities:
- ● Proficiency in estimation tools such as PlanSwift, CCS Candy, Excel, or equivalent.
- ● Basic knowledge of quantity take-offs and cost estimation.
- ● Familiarity with construction drawings and measurement techniques.
- ● Good communication and willingness to learn.
- ● High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- ● Strong organizational skills and ability to work under supervision.
- ● Team-oriented with a proactive and responsible attitude
