Successful candidates will have a background in mathematics, physics, or computer science. Although qualification to PhD level is preferred, we will consider any candidate with a strong first or further degree who demonstrates the required skill and knowledge to handle these technologies. [EIP Dynamics] About the role EIP Dynamics, the mechanical and electrical engineering arm of EIP, are looking for a new [PART-QUALIFIED AND QUALIFIED PATENT ATTORNEY] to join our [?? OFFICE] . The practice is continuing to develop at a rapid rate and we are looking for a talented professional to help out with increased work demands from existing clients and new work demands from recent client acquisitions. Typically, the subject-matter of the technical work will include (but is not limited to) manufacturing, transport (e.g. marine and aeronautical), packaging, and consumer product technologies. This is almost exclusively direct client work on behalf of UK-based and multinational companies across various sectors. A not insignificant portion of the work will be drafting patent applications, with prosecution and advice work (such as freedom-to-operate, infringement validity) making up much of the remainder. There is scope to handle registered designs work. Opportunities also arise to undertake a part-time secondment to some of our UK-based clients. [We are particularly keen to hear from those interested in our Bath location, although Cardiff is also an option.] [EIP Life] About the role Following the appointment of Monika Rai in 2020 as Head of EIP Life, we are continuing to grow the practice and are seeking a [finalist or a recently qualified patent attorney.] The EIP Life practice has been built upon direct client work, with a client base that is active in technical areas such as antibody and vaccine technology, gene therapies, regenerative medicines, bioarrays, nutraceuticals, biopolymers, microbiological engineering, small molecule pharmaceuticals and agrochemicals. With offices nationally, our clients come to us by recommendation from existing clients and due to the strength of our reputation. We have a need to recruit [a finalist or recently-qualified associate patent attorney] with experience in [biotechnology and/or related life science topics]. With a largely direct client base, it would be helpful if applicants have experience of client care. Equally, original drafting skills would be useful but neither this nor client exposure are essential to succeed. Those who have had some exposure to or a natural flair for business development initiatives will find plenty of opportunity to use and improve those skills. We are ideally looking to hire this position in London but also welcome applications from candidates interested in one of our regional offices.
