Asset Management Engineer supports the effective management of the organization’s asset portfolio by applying engineering expertise and recognized asset management principles across asset planning, information, performance, risk and the full asset lifecycle. The role maintains and improves asset registers, data quality, dashboards and performance reporting, while providing technical input into condition assessments, maintenance strategies, asset handovers, renewals, replacements and investment planning in alignment with the organization’s asset management system, ISO 55001 and applicable legal, regulatory, authority and contractual requirements. Through sound analysis, governance support and stakeholder coordination, the role enables risk- and value-based decision-making and continual improvement to maximize whole-life value, reliability, safety, sustainability and service performance. The main responsibilities for this role include: Core Accountabilities Apply recognized asset management principles and documented decision criteria to balance performance, risk, cost and value across the planning, acquisition, operation, maintenance, renewal and disposal of assets throughout their lifecycle. Support the development, implementation and continual improvement of the organisation’s Asset Management System in alignment with the current applicable edition of ISO 55001 and the wider ISO 55000 series Contribute to ISO 55001 certification readiness and ongoing conformity through gap assessments, audit support, management review inputs, corrective actions and the preparation of documented evidence. Assist in developing and implementing the Strategic Asset Management Plan, asset management plans, policies, objectives, procedures, standards, workflows and governance controls. Maintain and improve the asset register, ensuring asset information is complete, accurate, structured and traceable, including timely updates following asset acquisition, modification, transfer, renewal, replacement and disposal Perform asset data validation, reconciliation and gap analysis, and coordinate the correction of data-quality, hierarchy and classification issues across relevant systems. Develop and maintain asset dashboards, performance indicators and reports covering asset condition, reliability, risk, cost, compliance and lifecycle status. Analyse asset condition, criticality, performance, failure history and maintenance data to identify risks, trends and improvement opportunities. Provide technical input into preventive, predictive and corrective maintenance strategies to improve asset availability, reliability, safety and whole-life value. Coordinate asset takeover and handover activities, ensuring that asset data, technical documentation, testing and commissioning records, warranties, manuals, certificates and statutory approvals are complete and compliant. Support asset renewal, replacement, refurbishment and disposal planning through condition assessments, risk evaluations, lifecycle-cost analysis and evidence-based technical recommendations. Contribute to capital and operational investment planning by preparing technical assessments, asset-prioritisation inputs, budget justifications and lifecycle requirements. Support compliance with applicable legislation, regulatory and authority requirements, technical codes, permits, contractual obligations and internal policies. Monitor relevant changes in regulatory, authority and industry requirements, assess their potential impact on assets and support the implementation of required actions. Coordinate with operations, maintenance, projects, finance, procurement, IT, service providers and other stakeholders to ensure consistent asset management practices and reliable asset information. Identify and support continual-improvement initiatives that strengthen asset governance, data integrity, compliance, performance, sustainability, service delivery and cost efficiency. Knowledge, Qualification and Skills required: Essential 4+ years of relevant experience as well as: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, Building Services or another relevant engineering discipline, with experience in asset management, facilities management or a similar asset-intensive environment. Sound knowledge of asset management principles, asset lifecycle management and the ISO 55000 series, particularly ISO 55001 and Asset Management System requirements. Practical experience in managing asset registers, asset hierarchies and technical information within an EAM, CMMS, CAFM or equivalent system. Strong analytical capability in asset condition, criticality, performance, maintenance history, risk and lifecycle planning, with the ability to produce clear technical recommendations. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience developing dashboards, KPIs and management reports using Power BI or similar tools. Good knowledge of relevant statutory, regulatory, authority and technical requirements, supported by strong communication, coordination, problem-solving and attention-to-detail skills. Desirable: Recognized asset management qualification or formal training, such as an IAM Certificate or Diploma, CAMA, or ISO 55001 internal/lead auditor training. Experience supporting ISO 55001 implementation, certification-readiness assessments, audits, corrective actions or continual improvement of an asset management system.
