Financial Sector and Market Analysis Trainee

Deadline for application: 7 September 2026. We are looking for candidates pursuing, or recently graduated from, a master’s or PhD programme to assist the Financial Sector and Market Analysis division within the Chief Economist’s department of the European Stability Mechanism (ESM). The Financial Sector and Market Analysis division plays a key role in the design and implementation of analytical tools that support the ESM’s mandate. The team provides financial stability risk analysis at both euro area and country level, as well as technical advice on regulatory and policy matters related to the euro area financial sector and its member states. It monitors financial sector developments and market activity of both bank and non-bank financial institutions, along with related indicators.
