About The Role

Communications Manager – Member & Employee Communications

Location: Soho, London (Hybrid – minimum 3 days in the office)

Are you a creative communicator who can turn complex information into clear, engaging stories that inspire action? If you value integrity, responsibility and inclusive teamwork and would relish the opportunity to improve the experience of both members and employees you’ll fit right in.

About the Team

PPL is the UK music licensing organisation for over 150,000 performer and recording rightsholder members. Our purpose is to ensure that our members’ talent and investment is fairly rewarded when their recorded music is played.

The Communications team shapes PPL’s voice and helps bring our purpose to life. We build PPL’s external profile, create clear and valuable communications for our members, and support a positive internal culture where employees feel informed, connected and engaged.

What you’ll be doing

At PPL, improving the experience of our members and our employees sits at the heart of everything we do. As Communications Manager, you’ll work with the Senior People Communications Manager and stakeholders across the organisation to plan and deliver clear and inclusive audience-led communications that support PPL’s priorities, employee and member experience ambitions.

Acting as a trusted communications partner, you’ll combine strategic thinking with hands-on delivery, shaping messages, advising stakeholders, managing priorities and using insight to strengthen results.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver audience-led communication plans, campaigns, messaging and content for members and employees
  • Build trusted stakeholder relationships, offering clear advice and constructively challenging requests where a different approach will achieve better outcomes
  • Partner with project teams, business areas and subject-matter experts to clarify objectives, audiences, messages, channels and measures of success
  • Plan and deliver engaging internal communications that support organisational priorities, employee engagement and leadership communications, including leading communications for assigned change and improvement initiatives
  • Work with the Member Experience Manager to create coordinated, accessible updates that improve the member journey and demonstrate the value PPL creates
  • Own the employee and member communications calendar, sequencing activity, managing dependencies and identifying and escalating communication risks or capacity constraints early
  • Create high-quality content across channels, including presentations, briefings, videos, campaigns and employee engagement materials
  • Set clear objectives and use audience insight, engagement data and feedback to evaluate effectiveness and continuously improve

About You

We’re looking for an audience-led, inclusive and trusted communicator who combines curiosity and creativity with sound judgement. You’ll be collaborative, organised and adaptable, with the confidence to take ownership, build strong relationships and make complex information clear, relevant and easy to act on.

Key Requirements

  • Strong experience across more than one area of communications, ideally including employee, member or customer communications
  • Experience communicating business improvement, process change or transformation to internal and external audiences
  • A track record of developing and delivering communications plans and campaigns that support organisational objectives
  • Excellent writing, editing and storytelling skills, with the ability to make complex information clear and compelling
  • Strong stakeholder management, influencing and relationship-building skills, with the confidence to challenge constructively
  • Excellent planning, prioritisation and project management skills, with the ability to manage competing demands, dependencies and deadlines
  • A strategic, audience-led approach combined with attention to detail and a hands-on delivery style
  • Confidence using insight, data and feedback to set measures, evaluate outcomes and inform improvements
  • Experience in a member, customer or service-focused organisation would be an advantage
