Senior Backend Engineer

We're looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to design, build and scale the services that power our product. You'll own critical parts of our backend architecture, from APIs and data models to performance and reliability, and help raise the engineering bar across the team.

What you'll do:

• Design, build and maintain scalable, secure and well-tested backend services and APIs

• Lead technical design for new features and drive architectural decisions

• Optimize system performance, reliability and observability in production

• Collaborate closely with product, frontend and DevOps teams to ship high-quality features

• Review code, mentor engineers and promote engineering best practices

• Participate in on-call rotation and help resolve production issues

• 5+ years of professional experience building backend systems

• Strong proficiency in at least one backend language such as Go, Java, Python or Node.js

• Solid experience designing RESTful and/or gRPC APIs and distributed systems

• Deep knowledge of relational databases (e.g. PostgreSQL, MySQL); experience with NoSQL stores and caching (e.g. Redis) is a plus

• Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP or Azure), containers and Kubernetes

• Familiarity with message queues and event-driven architectures (e.g. Kafka, RabbitMQ, SQS)

• Strong grasp of testing, CI/CD, monitoring and security best practices

• Excellent communication skills and experience mentoring other engineers

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience
